What exactly do you think "open carry law" actually means, that it's so hard to believe that a private business can regulate what sort of items they permit customers to bring onto their property? FYI it works the same way in Arizona.
And in Alabama. I remember when we changed the law and codified open carry back in 2013. Signs popped up everywhere, like weeds.
Actually, in the case of TN's law, it wasn't originally clear. There was a considerable amount of debate as to if a business owner could prohibit people from having guns or not. I don't remember all the details, but I know that they had to pass legislation clarifying the matter.
Perhaps. But that doesn't clarify Nova's concern. He says it's "difficult to believe", and I don't really see why that would be so difficult to believe.
It's true. Private property ownership trumps state law in this regard. I don't think it's just TN either.
Due process that involves excessive court fees or a labyrinthine quest to prove money is legally yours may as well be no process at all. That civil forfeiture starts by putting the onus of proof on YOU rather than the cops should set your alarm bells ringing. And you're the guy who won't accept "obstructive" background checks on guns, even if they are part of a legal process. Why the double standard?
I think the defining adjective is nutjob regardless which direction his delusions swing. More concerning is why his father gave him his guns back. There's a right idiot who should stand criminal charges. And why would Illinois give them to someone other than the owner?
Just proves once again that the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun! oh ... wait... nevermind....
I once saw a karate man chop 10 logs in half with just his hand. That proves that lumberjacks never need to use saws or axes, so we can ban those.
Of course that is a total non sequitor that has no relation to the NRA's major talking point for universal gun ownership.
Yes, let's by all means build our entire strategy out of debunking a rhetorical one-line sales pitch instead of ever addressing the substance of an argument or the meat of a position. This is why I am now essentially done listening to anything that the anti-gun Left has to say. Since YOU guys aren't bothered with such things as honesty and rational discourse, why should WE waste any more of our time on you?
you stole my joke (sort of) and it was tied in to free coffe & starbucks. Wordforge is read only at work for me.
because gun culture seems pretty obsessed with "how dare anyone deny my right to carry?!?!?!" I've seen more than one social media rant where some dude is advocating boycotting a place because of their no gun sign. I'd assumed that red state politicians would have felt obliged to mandate that those businesses couldn't actually bar someone based on their visible gun, sign or no sign.
these folks seem to have something in common but I can't put my finger on it.... https://www.buzzfeed.com/briannasacks/waffle-house-shooting-victims?utm_term=.flnDLBMVE#.mhLDm6w2p
I saw a brief segment of an interview with the guy who stopped the shooter and he said he was only doing what he had to do. Now seeing the victims he probably noticed the pattern too & figured he had nothing to lose since he was probably going to be next. Regardless, he is indeed a hero no doubt about it.
