So SOLO is set 10 years after ROTS, & 10 years before ANH? Right smack down in the middle! What are people's expectations for how SOLO will be received by critics? And the public? I wonder how well it'll due at the box office? Coming out Memorial Day Weekend. One of the first big movies of the Summer 2018!

It's surpassing Black Panther in pre ticket sales, so it's anyone's guess.
If it clears 1 billion like the other three, that should shut a lot of whiners up in the "Star Wars is doomed!", camp.

First screening was last night.
Social media reactions are mixed from "hooorayyy!!", to "meh...".

The amount of footage Howard reshot in news reports keeps climbing. First, it was 50%, then it was 60%, and now I've seen 70%. Howard reminds me of Roger De Bris from The Producers, you know, in how Roger doesn't want to do a musical, yet that is all he can think of when he's describing how he'd do the show? Howard's no Ed Wood, but he's also not a Ridley Scott or Stanley Kubrick. He's the guy you call when you need something done in a hurry, like Le Corbusier, he can put a building up quickly, but if you want a building done well, you call Frank Lloyd Wright. So, I can see this movie being a light, frothy souffle, but I can't see it as being something which makes you hungry for a totally different perspective on the SW universe.

That Harloff bloke doesn't seem impressed.

The Schmoes are pretty reliable.

Well, then the other Shmoe loved it, so it's a tie.

Yes, Mark Ellis said it was a great ride, or words to that effect.

Ellis is often wrong, I trust Harloff.

In other words, only one Schmoe can be trusted.

I can't wait for the Disney's Marvel's Solo: A Deadpool Crossover.

That's about the spread I'd expect for a good film that got the publicity this one did.

Saw the trailer for the first time.

The trailer did not leave me wanting to see the movie.

I'll probably still see it because the kids want to see it but the trailer to me looked like a YA Novel put on the big screen.

A Han Solo spinoff was in the planning before Disney even bought Lucasfilm.
