I bought & used cilantro in a recipe for the first time only a few years ago. I've used it maybe twice since.
my wife had horse meat in Sardinia one time - she's not a fan. I know a Jamaican guy who knows how to cook goat quite well!
goat tends to be amazing eating, no matter what culture it's cooked in. I've got one of the most popular jerk chicken joints in the city across from me... Jamaican food is a several times a week thing for me with a light meal there costing about 20 minutes pay.
I am a goat snob. I love the taste and all, but I HATE crunching down on bone chips. I’ve done enough of that. Which at the time I accepted. I mean when you watch someone kill and butcher a goat for you w/a machete, you just accept the bone chips. But this is the first world dammit and I ain’t gonna put up with that shit here.
True! Most of the goat I end up eating is Mexican for this reason. But I like Afghani and Iraqi food and wish I could get their goat w/out bone chips.
Basically, innards. Liver, kidneys, lungs, brain, tongue, tripe (stomach lining)... Now I like liver and kidneys, if served right. Both add a great richness to stews and pies, if fine chopped or blended to add to the gravy. I'll tolerate a bit of liver in a mixed grill. And definitely as pate. Not had brains. Knowingly - I love haggis which is basically an offal free-for-all, but not sure if the shop-bought ones here go as far as brains and lung. Related to offal, I love pork and beef cheek. It's really rich and breaks down well when slow-cooked giving a succulent, juicy meat. I often slow-cook beef cheek with prunes, a dash of cumin and a splash of soy sauce, and serve with rice or pearl barley. Excellent stew for a cold day.
Foods I hate: Beets Brussel sprouts Cauliflower Eggplant Liver Tomatoes Lima beans Cream of ______ soup Olives Bean sprouts
I love olives with other foods or by themselves. My wife went to Italy and Greece last summer and brought back some of the best spicy olives I’ve ever had. Spoiler for those who hate them.
That's interesting ... I like strawberries, but think that most strawberry-flavored things (especially anything labeled "strawberries and cream") are gross.
Curious. I too am one who tends to like the taste of a certain fruit but not the fruit itself. Oranges for example.
Not at all. I'm the same way. Never developed a taste for coffee and therefore dislike it, but while being brewed it smells amazing.
you would love my hazelnut coffee smell then! I fire it up within a few short minutes of waking up. Smells like......victory! Seriously, I slam coffee during my resistance training. Okay and before I go to the gym to do my cardio.
@shootER and I have had this conversation before, but I can't stand mustard. I think it's the smell more than anything else. If it's hidden among a dozen other ingredients in, say, potato salad, and I can't smell it, I'm fine. So I put ketchup and kraut on my hotdogs. Sue me. Also not crazy about green olives. Black olives, though? Now, this stuff: on a dirty-water dog from a NY Hebrew-National or Sabrett street stand is to die for.
