Interestingly, Seth indicates that they won't have to adhere to the standard 42 minute format of broadcast TV may make longer episodes. https://www.looper.com/161019/the-orville-season-3-hulu-release-date-cast-and-plot/
While a release from the constraints of broadcast TV can be a great thing for some creators, I'm not sure that Seth MacFarlane will be one of them. He already has a tendency toward self-indulgence and beating a joke to death by not knowing when enough is enough.

I'm not sure that the episodes being 10-15 minutes longer is a good thing. Seth MacFarlane is someone who needs constraints to curtain his tendency toward self-indulgence and not knowing when enough is enough ...

Wow, 200 million! I hope it’s something good, maybe some real sci-fi. I’m not sure, but it seems like NBC is one of the few studios that doesn’t have a major sci-fi series and that’s what’s popular right now.
FOX already cut the Orville and Seth moved it to Hulu for S3. This isn't going to impact it any moreso than FOX already did.
Yeah... I'm still pissed about that. Now I have to fork over another $7 a month just to get The Orville. That's after Disney +, Netflix and CBS All Acess. This is after I have to pay my cable company to maintain my internet service. I thought the streaming ala carte services was supposed to be cheaper? Maybe I'll just add HULU and ESPN + to my Disney +.
Just add Hulu and ESPN to Disney +, I'm pretty sure it's cheaper. That way you pay for Disney +, which gets you Disney, Hulu, National Geographic, and ESPN. Then pay for Netflix and CBS AA. That's what I do, but I don't pay for CBS AA, I pay for Amazon. As for the rest, . I've been with Netflix from the beginning, I just can't bring myself to drop it.
Or... I could drop them all until they actually put out something I want to watch... drop Netflix u til Season 2 of The Witcher, drop Disney + until Falcon & The Winter Soldier, drop CBS AA after the Treks are done, etc. Vote with my wallet
Looking through old posts and found this gem. Not just for pilots but for everyone. In the military and civilian life. A holodeck would leave no part of humanity untouched. Think of all the training that you could do. Combat simulations, surgery simulations, training on new equipment, physical training, martial training. Want to learn to ski like a pro? Simply ski every day in the simulator. Learn to drive a race car. All sorts of stuff. In fact that could be used as a gateway to the real thing. "Okay you can handle a race car in a simulator. We'll give you a shot at the real thing." Build a big enough simulator to hold hundreds of people and you could have ships like submarines. Imagine practicing combat ops like it's the real thing. Right down to flooding and fires. Law enforcement could train every day. Even the criminals would benefit from practice. Imagine planning a bank robbery using a holodeck. "Tom make sure you erase the holodeck before we go!"

I know this post is old as shit, but they said exactly this sort of thing about television at first. "Attend university lectures from the comfort of your living room" and whatnot. Also I stopped caring about the Orville years ago.
