Or he's trying to accomplish something productive with NK after years of abject failure.

It was doing a lot better before ¡Socialismo!
Mainly by embracing the economic model of its opponent in the war.

Except I've seen nothing to suggest the teachers used their classrooms as a platform for their views. I'll freely admit I've had to use secondary sources as the link is geographically restricted but I'm yet to find one that mentions this in any way influencing their classroom performance.

I've no doubt there are many teachers out there who believe Hitler didn't go far enough, it's a commonplace belief, but whilst it's unsettling I'd not expect them to lose their jobs unless they were shown to be actively teaching those views to children.

It was also doing a lot better whenever the US approved of it.

Funny how countries where the US won proxy wars seem not to have fared as well as Vietnam though.

Anyone fancy taking a turn doing the history lesson on how NK came into being?

and nobody in the UK would get upset if teachers went on a blatant Russian propaganda trip? Color me skeptical.

 Oh you silly simplistic boy! Professor Spot will be along shortly to tell you just how wrong you are, and how everything bad in the world today (or since the beginning of time) can be traced back to United States interference/oppression/guns.

It's actually not uncommon here, any more snark before we acknowledge these people were only exercising their 1A rights?

Should one or more of those theoretical neonazi teachers make a public show of neonaziness, especially while linking themself/themselves with their school/teachers union, one would assume that their classroom behavior would be looked at, right? Students interviewed, and probably a classroom monitor. Shouldn't the same be done for this group?

Very possibly, but as it happens they've simply been sacked.

Just as any neonazi teacher who has been outed would. And most of the people here would be ecstatic about it.

No one was outed, they were completely open about the trip. They had no criminal or terrorist intent, or even suspicions thereof.

The First Amendment is supposed to protect the freedom for people to express political viewpoints but throughout its' history the consistency with which it has been applied has been sketchy. The worst period for systematically violating it was McCarthyism and this looks very similar indeed.

That you can't seem to comprehend a difference between socialists and neonazis is just one of the reasons you're a fucking joke.

Funny thing, but we had this guy back in the 80s...

interestingly enough, the high school I attended at the time offered a history credit that focused on communism... we had to get parental permission to take it.

As someone who has been criticized unfairly for my teaching methods in the past I am in agreement that propaganda should not be allowed in schools.

I prefer old fashioned teaching methods such as physical intimidation to get my message across.
