I am very much Calvinist in Soteriology. However, the Reformed tradition is much deeper and far more nuanced than those five simple points. We must remember that the "Five Points of Calvinism" are anything but. The Remonstrants, led by Jacob Arminius, challenged five specific doctrines of grace. So called "Five Point Calvinism" is merely the specific response of the Council, or Synod, of Dort (1618-1619) to these five specific challenges.

I understand what each of you are saying, but at its core, we're talking about a theological label that individuals have applied to themselves and a movement has applied to itself. So, I would think it would follow that we would need to try to use the theological definition of the word. Unfortunately, I think it's an ultimately meaningless label because, once upon a time, it did have a specific meaning, but today it's so muddled and murky that it can mean twenty different things to twenty different people. Thus, making it woefully inadequate as a descriptor of any specific belief.

Again, twenty different meanings to twenty different people. The Roman Church and your typical 21st Century "Fundamentalist" come to, essentially, the same conclusions (e.g. homosexuality, abortion, and all the other social ills) even though they come to those conclusions from very different directions.
