The movie is 40 years old and people have been quoting it since before anyone had heard of the internet.
Maybe he was part of an Amish sect and didn't get out much. Or he was a hermit living in a cave in the Alps.
Good. The cops have outed themselves as the enemy of the people, I'm glad they're openly siding with Republican fascists. It'll make dealing with them easier.
"People". But not "French people." 40 years ago, I was already in France, and had been here for a number of years.
You're not far off. I was a caver in the Alps back then. Loved it. Now I'm kind of too old for that stuff...

duly noted! Way back in the day we had two soldiers get sent to the hospital because they were cleaning barracks shower areas and were using all manner of cleaning products at the same time.
For some reason, I read that as "I was a cadaver in the Alps back then," and was thoroughly confused as to just how old you are.
No shit really? I thought people were never going to work again because unemployment? That was what your side was claiming. The rest of us figured people would go back to work when this passed. Okm the rest of us who are not chicken littles claiming we would have to stay inside our homes forever. I will admit there were a few crying wussbags on the left. It is nice to see that we can pay unemployment to cover things if the workforce is temporarily laid off for a time to cover a pandemic. Seems that was working as intended, and this is what everyone with a fucking brain expected to happen.
He does do amazing things. Most of them failures. To fail big as a president you have to be a president. To have a huge blowout defeat as an incumbent you have to be president first. It goes along the lines that to bankrupt yourself in three casinos you first have to be one of the elite people who get to own three casinos. In order to lose on epic scale you first have to be epic.
But as we found out, the national polls (which is all that article seems to cite) don't matter when compared to state-by-state polling. If you look at the numbers Five Thirty Eight has, you'll notice that only three Presidents have polled lower than Trump is right now. They are: George HW Bush, Jimmy Carter, and Harry Truman. It is premature to say that he has no chance of winning re-election. Oh, and once again, those are national numbers.
Yep. National polls don't mean jack squat in a presidential election. I don't know why people even bother with them. Right now the polls to keep an eye on are in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona. That's where the election is going to be won.
Sirota's a world-class twit. And seriously, any campaign strategist who thought "let's try to win with 30% of the voters and just cross our fingers that the field stays crowded" was a good strategy, should probably find a new line of work.
