Is anyone else thinking Baby Yoda might end up joining the Dark Side of the Force? The little fucker is actively enjoying eating the Frog Lady's unborn children. She's got to be some kind of refugee or something, but he still sucks down her kids like grapes or something. Even after they're almost killed because he gobbles down another unborn kid, he looks at her like he's saying "What are you going to do about it, bitch?" She gives him a sad, worried look while trying to protect to her remaining unborn kids. And he just gobbles another one down like it's no big deal. And he does that shit, after she freaking saves him from being attacked by the spiders he caused to take after him, Mando, and Frog Lady. What a bastard, he's got to be letting the Dark Side of the Force get to him.
actually that was one of my two lingering nitpicks: how come Mama Frog doesn't know EXACTLY how many eggs she had and then noticed one or more missing? (the other is how do you get a heat signature from the footsteps of a presumably cold-blooded individual, but I assume there's several ways to rationalize that)
nah, from his perspective they're just eggs. From hers, they're still unfertilized, even with all the plot stakes added.
yeah... he even made a point about it being important to get her some blankets so as to not get too cold.
DenOfGeek addresses the prime aspect of this episode, which is that Mos Eisley is doomed due to mass food poisoning caused by incorrect cooking of Krayt dragon meat. https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/mandalorian-cook-krayt-dragon-meat/ Some pretty cogent points.
I think she did notice. There was that bit where she was pointing to an indicator on the container and Mando didn't know what she was talking about. I'd say (1) you can't make assumptions about alien physiology and (2) even cold-blooded creatures are warmer than snow. The plot contrivance I didn't like: hyperspace being harmful to the eggs. I got a little angry at the second egg-eating incident; they were playing a pretty serious loss for laughs.
Conservative in "doesn't like the idea of a mode of transport damaging lifeforms/the environment" shocker.
Is that article a joke? Hard to tell these days, because there really are so many fans who are that fucking stupid, anal-retentive and annoying.
I took it as just a bit of fun, but as a budding cook he is on the money - it's a damn shame to see good meat being treated poorly. Insert "your mom" joke here.
was that even heat sensing imagery? there was no real colour change to indicate dissipation time between steps. I just took it as highlighting the track impressions where snow had been pressed down before filling back in.
Hmmm. Could be. But the visual language of the scene--blue surroundings, red/pink footprints--was suggestive of heat. And when he approached the chamber where she was bathing, that appeared reddish in his scanner, suggesting it was a warmer environment. But it's enough to say: the scanner let Mando see her footprints.
yup... it's star wars. It doesn't have to make perfect sense. I'm still just happy for my Toronto homeboy getting the cameo.
Love this episode too, but I also thought that The Child eating the Frog Lady's eggs was either a foreshadowing of future Dark Sideyness or else just misplaced comedy in very bad taste. Either way I didn't care for that at all.
Baby Yoda eating the eggs has nothing to do with the Force. It's a child and doesn't know any better, or is a bit rebellious. Remember in Season One when Mando told him to stop flicking switches? Baby looks right at him, then leans over to flip the switch anyway. It's a game to him. He still needs to grow up and learn, like any child.
Anyone who had scrambled, fried, boiled or poached eggs for breakfast in the last week needs to take a long hard look in the mirror. Next up, why bacon means it's OK to eat Tellarites.
Finally Bo Katan... and the helmet thing gets settled as yeah, Mando's type are a bunch of fundy cult weirdos (with bad skin). Titus Welliver makes at least three Deadwood guest spots by my count.
There seems to be a pretty robust conversation on the web that’s saying The Child is a user of the dark side of The Force. It eating the eggs of a sentient being is what sparked it. I guess it’s possible. We really don’t know what Yoda is/was... just that he was a Jedi and used the light side... and he trained Luke, died, and Luke went on to eliminate the dark force users. But we know that The Force itself isn’t favorable to light or dark, and that it just seeks balance. If Luke is out there training Jedi with the light side, maybe The Child is a manifestation of the dark side? Anybody have any info/thoughts on this?
