It really isn’t jingoism. I fully recognize my nation’s failings in multiple arenas. But THIS really isn’t one of them.

For all our failings we are so far both the longest lasting multi ethnic empire and multi ethnic democracy in world history.

But for real, we DEFINITELY have our own issues with racism and prejudice but just like Title 9 results in us dominating women’s athletics the 14th means we integrate folks better than anyone else. Plus we are just a more diverse nation than others. I bet if you were to only poll whites in the US we would unfortunately be closer to the Europeans than we would like.

I'm happy to call out the US when it falls below par (eg, on healthcare). This is one of the areas where we excel.

That is a simple enough question even you should be able to answer.

No. Plenty of blacks hate asians (for example) and plenty of hispanics hate blacks (another example) and so on and so forth. Of course everything like that is somehow punching up except for white conservatives. That's a simple enough answer even you should be able to understand it.

That plenty of blacks hate Asians and plenty of Hispanics hate blacks (etc) doesn't necessarily translate into how they as a group would answer the question at hand about, to simplify, whether more diversity is a good thing, a neutral thing, or a bad thing. First of all, it's possible to be prejudiced against a subgroup and still think that overall diversity is a good thing. But also, the percentage of prejudiced blacks/Hispanics may not be as large or active/influential as the percentage of prejudiced whites.

To be fair, I believe most Americans are not racist. The problem is that half of Americans are willing to allow racists to exist and make excuses for their actions.

It is how he secretly tells us he is racist. His subconscious just keeps making him jump in front of that bullet because that is what he is.

And this, of course, is a straw man. I do not claim to know what percentage or number of whites are hateful towards other groups versus blacks/Latinos/whoever. The very fact of my saying that it may not be as large implies -- and I will outright state -- that it may be as large or even larger.

Here's the thing: the number of whites who hate blacks/other groups vs. blacks who hate Asians is pretty much an intangible thing. We can agree that there is some non-zero number of people who belong to both groups, but there is no meaningful way to quantify them.

But there presumably is a way to quantify how U.S. whites responded to this survey question versus U.S. blacks, vs. the rest of the world, etc. The survey only got so many respondents, and if they observed standard methodology, they likely broke down the respondents in various ways. That's the cross-tabulation Anc referred to.

Anc is convinced that U.S. whites responded to this survey in a pattern that is more akin to European respondents. You apparently think he's wrong.

Not true. There was a very long period in European history during which Europeans loved foreigners. They were convinced that controlling or, even better, owning foreigners was the best thing one could do. They called it "colonialism" and "White man's burden" and a bunch of other cool things, and exported the greatness of European civilization to the whole world!
