Why is it that traitors like Tucker Carlson, Trump, and all the other right wing terrorists get their daily moments to shout lies, but the cops and dems who were in mortal danger from a terrorist attack on our capital should be silenced for having their time to tell the US what happened? It is free lies for the right, but anyone who says any truth should be locked up as traitorts to a fascist state that was beaten long before any of these people were even a brokedick sperm in their daddy's nutsack?

Every news channel should be forced to air the testimony of these police over and over for the next month or so. That especially includes Faux, Newsmax, OAN, and any other so called right wing news broadcaster.

Is he wrong though? 1/6 was unfortunate and those involved should be punished, including The Donald.

But are Dems blowing it up further for political gain? Absolutely.

I mean, truth isn't the friend of the evil.
Look at Cosby bullying his victims to the shut the fuck up.
    Or Weinstein.
    Or Epstein.
But if they rotted society such that it became like the Mirror Universe, so that they didn't have to lie, it would kill the power rush, and they'd have to find some other awful shit to do to have to lie about.
Evil is a parasite on the mechanisms of society, it can't make its own world.

If that were true, you know how to solve that?
Have the Repubs stop ass-covering, and let the truth all out.
Sunshine is the ultimate disinfectant and all that.
But pure transparency isn't what Repubs are after.
They've fought it tooth and nail.
    Funny that...

You have so little patience for anyone that breaks the law... Except for the idiots that tried to overthrow the government and murder elected officials, in which case it's just "fashionable outrage" to want to hold them and those that aided them from the inside accountable.

But no, you're a unique rebel, not a brainwashed Fox News zombie with delusions of grandeur. :dayton:

    Oh, and....

I've about fucking had it with this analogy. :brood:

You aren't the gloomy but wise goth kid, and we aren't the pretty people.

We're normal and average, and you're the little shit who made the blind kid fall down and cry, and ran away.

It's not your clothes, it's not your makeup, it's not your mopey vibe, it's not the blood drenched comics you draw, you're a shit.
    An unrepentant shit.

Just like the Columbine killers weren't victims, they were little shits.

Just like the January 6th assholes weren't patriots, or heroes, or anything positive or constructive, they were just spoiled rotten entitled Karens and Kevins.
Which are just grownup hairier smellier versions of miserable little teenaged shits.

Why are the reps and the dems fighting for who gets to be the geeky kids? None of them are.

All of them are the pretty popular ones. The factions the geeks care about are Kirk vs Pickard. There is also alliance vs horde, Turtles vs shredder, schoolgirl vs catgirl, swimteam vs tennis, Monkeytboy vs loud orange ninja, or any of the other geek area debates.

The starbuck libs and the BDS reps are all pretty people. They all need to go back to watching TBBT and the MCU and stop pretending they are the victimized outcasts of society. You are mainstream pretty and don't you fucking forget it.

Glenn Greenwald has been circling the drain for the better part of the last year. Itā€™s clear an older millennial at The Intercept criticized his work and he still hasnā€™t recovered from it.

Credit to the Democrats for offering to have a totally bipartisan investigation. Trust me, there is no political gain to be had from this. The party in power always has a tough time in the midterm elections.

Supposedly, and I haven't bothered to run this down, so I don't know if it actually true or not, but I have seen enough corroborating evidence to indicate that it is plausible, Glenn is pimping his husband on a Brazilian sex site. Consenting adults can do whatever, of course, but there have been some indications that there are some rather nasty aspects to it. I don't know, and it's not the kind of thing that I'm at all interested in running down, but I've seen enough of the things that Greenwald's posted on the interwebs lately to make me think that he's more than a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Glenn's hit and miss. Sometimes he's incredibly on point, and his acumen for rooting out a good story is excellent. On the other hand, he suffers from "when have I ever been wrong?" syndrome, so that when he's off base, he's WAAAYY off base.

Now, all of that said, there is a point to be made that at least some of this is political grandstanding. The only reason congress is even doing this is because angry human beings managed to get that close to them. Usually, they're far away, or on the internet. This time, people actually approached them at their jobs. That scared them shitless. Some of them maintained kayfabe, but for the most part, they were truly scared. That I understand. I'd be scared, too.

On the other hand, COVID is killing people vaccinated or not, and the CDC doesn't know its ass from a hole in the ground on whether masking is or is not good. At the same time, renters are about to reach the end of the moratorium, and there's going to be some mass eviction happening soon if someone doesn't step in. People need money, while rich folks are doing alright, a lot of people are still struggling, and they need financial help. In the midst of this, congress is holding a Jan 6th hearing, and then they're going on vacation for over a month.

The cops let these assholes in the building. They stood by and did little to nothing to stop them. I remember, I watched the whole thing. Only after shit got really bad did they finally do something. More police isn't the answer. Bigger police and military budget isn't the answer, but guess what we're going to get out of this?

The end of the day? This is about congresspeople being angry they got caught out at their jobs by angry people. They're so used to there being a divide between their actions and the reactions by their constituents, they have to cover their asses and make sure it never happens again, and that's the long and short of it. Trump can eat shit, his supporters who stormed the capitol can eat shit, and Congress can eat shit because all that will come out of this is more trouble for us, and a thicker wall between us and the people who supposedly represent us, and that wall will have more guns and cameras facing outward.

Trump was a spark, but this powder keg has long existed. The people who make claims that this day was worse than 9/11 have their heads so far up their ass they're drinking their own water.

I don't contest that. But I don't know that a Dem-led Congressional investigation is going to lead the country to any kind of breakthrough settlement on this problem. More likely it's just going to add to the partisan divide.

There probably isn't, but Pelosi et al probably think that there is. Keep pointing to 1/6 reminding the public of how toxic the GOP is. (Which is true, but if you're not already convinced of that, nothing more can help you.)

If the Dems want to do well in the midterms, how about delivering on their 2020 promise to working people? Get these infrastructure bills passed. Get a $15 minimum wage and a healthcare public option back on the table. Figure out a way to strong-arm Joe Manchin and make it happen.

This, and they need to stop with the parliamentarian bullshit. Up until the Democrats were elected, few people actually knew there was a parliamentarian, or what they did. Now, though, suddenly all the good action promised to us by Biden in the election can't be done because Joe Manchin's just too powerful, oh and he's a Democrat (vote blue no matter who!), but that's different this time.

They're going to Roberts Rules of Order themselves right out of Congress and then the White House, and they'll have learned nothing. I think it's because they're controlled opposition for their donors (god forbid $15 minimum wage or comprehensive healthcare is passed), but others will have different opinions, of course.

You are correct, at the end of the day national security is going to be weaponized against reporters and bloggers who go after the mainstream reps and dems in the government. Seriously, where were these federal investigations pre-trump when you had the bundy family raiding and holding federal property and establishing groups like the proud boys, oathbreakers, and 3 percent whatevers? These groups did not come out of nowhere, and they were walking around terrorizing the general public with their weapons long before Trump ever thought of running for president.

Now all of a sudden domestic terrorism is a problem you have to look into? Why? Because they knocked over the doors of the corporate puppets in congress. This is what you get for allowing these people to have access and infiltrate law enforcement while speaking about collapsing the government because it was not killing black folks and allowing white people to just take what they want.

I had mixed emotions about the non-violent take down of the bundy people when they seized government property. On one hand I was happy there was not a Waco style gunbattle. On the other side i see the effects years later when these same people stormed our government. They had years of brotherhood with the cops and authorities. Of course they thought they ran the country, and that they were betrayed by the few police who stood up.

Our police state cannot coddle these terrorists, but on the other hand we need some sort of public supervision of the police to investigate when they clearly overstep their boundaries like in the BLM protests and cracking down on brown people. Our government is clearly looking to use this to put more police on the streets, and the end result is going to be putting down more legitimate protests like BLM. This blindness that Biden, Schumer, and Pelosi are not happy as pigs in shit to do this is the same sort of ignorant dumbassery that thinks trump is not a fascist.

You are correct that we are inching into a lockdown by people who are siding with fascism and it is coming from the middle. The bulk of people in the middle are always the ones who stand in the middle of the road and then get run over by the government while all the people on the sides are screaming to them to look the fuck out.

It is the middle that ends up being the real problem. when you keep going back and forth between putting reps or dems into power, and nothing changes you have to look outside of that. All the whining Biden Brats of the middle tried to say not voting for Biden was voting for Trump. That was so shortsighted by the sheeple. Biden is the same fucking problem that existed before Trump. Hillary is as corrupt as they come. The right is not wrong about that.

The mainstream middle sets the right and left against each other. The Faux news racist, homophobic, religious hate machine is owned and controled by the same corporate buddies as the left. The same corporations who dump money into Biden and the Clintons also fund the right wing political hate machine. This is also what the middle sees. This is what the middle loves.

Both sides are fed up with the middle. The issues that both sides have are manufactured fears created by the middle.

Yep. And that's pretty much was is happening right now. Lock them up and throw away the key.

Of course they are. That's why they focus so much on that one day while ignoring the numerous OTHER days of violence that happened in 2020. Until their recent outrage over 1/6 you never heard any compassion or concern about police from the left. Funny how that works.

It certainly is a concern that civil liberties might be further undermined, using the events of January as cause. And there are "national security" Democrats who would attempt this.

But Greenwald is wrong to suggest that there should not be severe consequences for the insurrection, which was unique in its danger, including for Trump and those directly associated with him who might have had some involvement.
