I had never heard of OnlyFans until today. Based on the name and on reading here that banning sexually explicit content was kind of them renouncing their very raison d'etre, my initial guess was that it was some kind of fan fiction site
I knew about Onlyfans, cuz sneaky ads for it have been bleeding into regular free porn. "...but if you wanna see this toy actually go in me, you have to go to my Onlyfans ". Goddammit.
Ugh, it was the credit card companies after all, the policy just isn't in force yet. A thread: Descriptions above and below, sources linked.
Was tumble ever so overwhelmingly defined in the public perception as being a platform for adult material? I honestly have no idea, don't think I've ever visited it.
Just so you know Tumblr is the straight and boring as missionary vs of your grindr. It is sort of like the difference between farmersonly.com and furrymate. You can find an animal to fuck on both, but one is much more exciting.
There used to be a lot of sex workers (mainly quee sex workers) there selling nudes and interacting with their fans there, which is probably where the CEO of Onlyfans got the idea to begin with. It was a pretty big deal, but I never dealt with that side of the site personally. I do know nearly all of the ones my other friends followed left the place and never looked back. EDIT: oh, and like every censorship campaign 8n the history of forever, it continues to miss all the porn bots and child predators trading CSEM amounts themselves. Tumblr was moving towards that route anyway, but the reason it was done when it did was because Apple deplatformed the app after a shit ton of child explorative material was found that their brokedick owners did nothing about for YEARS.
The Verge reports OnlyFans has reversed itself and will not ban porn. Apparently OF says issues with payment systems have been worked out.
That's great news, now all those amateur porn stars on OF can get those butt implants and duck lips they so desperately want
You know what, on second thought, we won't destroy our entire business and the livelihood of thousands of performers. Who the fuck runs this company?
"I'm fairly sure if they took porn off the internet, there'd only be one website left, and it'd be called 'Bring back the porn!'"
I fucking hate ads in free porn. "Hey, have you heard of Jerkmate?" Yes, every third video I'm trying to jerk to, mate.
So the anti-porn movement has not changed and is still what it was decades ago? If it was not for porn these people would still have a text only internet based on kermit and email listservs. It is really strange. I can count the number of porn pieces that have ever turned me on on my fingers and still be able to masturbate easily, but I am a huge fan of the porn industry. I may never use you, but I am so glad you are on my side and around. You make the world so much better.
Watch the documentary "Inside Deep Throat". "Deep Throat" came this >< close to mainstreaming porn in the 70's, and the Repugs funded a study to prove porn was bad for you, but the study found it was harmless, so they scrapped the study, and legislated against porn anyway. Y'know, like they do with all science they don't like.
"Try not to cum watching/playing this!" I don't think you fully understand how pornography works, advertisement.
probably not a good example given Linda Lovelace's memoir of the subject. She portrays Deep Throat as basically an ongoing rape being documented... the industry was pretty sketch in the 70s/80s too, I mean, look at Traci Lords making a hundred films before anyone checked her birth certificate. Sex work is a helluvalot more mainstream-if not casual- now just based on the number of people I know involved in it in one way or another. The difference today-from the punk dominatrix running a 'spa' to the would be suicide girls to the couple of people who can pay their phone bills from OF clicks-is they have full agency in what they do.
Yeah, but the business was sketch because conservative puritans drove it underground with their moralist hypocrisy. Booze was dangerous and sketch under prohibition.
I dunno... I mean, DT came out between the Swedish "I Am Curious" and Spain's "Emmanuelle" original series, not too mention a lot of other mainstream adult oriented cinema. I'd think chain cinema, much like chain record stores, are what created the dark ages between '85-'00.
