I saw this meme this morning and texted it to the teenager because it’s right up his alley. I just thought it was funny. But …, check out his response. I think he “steve’d” me right back. (Not just about economics. Any topic really.)
Garfield doesn't have classes or a job, the only conceivable reason he hates Mondays is if that's when Jon leaves him alone to go to work.
I'm not sure what version of reality doesn't include getting up on Monday and doing something you don't want to do. Every version of socialism we've seen sure includes that. Plenty of flaws in capitalism, and the US' version needs massive reform, but someone is still going to have to pick up the garbage. The chances of you accumulating enough shit to not have to get up on Monday is probably greater in capitalism, but that comes with the cost that so many more people have to do more shit they don't like - and may be breaking them.
I've almost always had a sporadic work week and rarely had "Fridays" or "Mondays" until last year when I worked in a bank during the beginning of the pandemic. It was always wierd to come into work and everyone was like, "Its Friday!" I could never bring myself to being more excited over one day or hating the other days so much that I looked so forward to Friday. I would be miserable otherwise. I have patience for that meme. ALSO when I was going to school and working and would go to get my coffee at the drive thru coffee shops I couldn't handle the baristas asking me "Are you doing anything fun this weekend?" or "Are you going to enjoy the sunshine?" (Please read with high pitch voice and remember it is prior to having any caffeine) Sometimes I would use a Steve reply and say "I enjoy every day"
"Want" is relative, but I've had some jobs that I legitimately enjoyed going to, especially when I had friends working with me that particular day. North America has enough wealth that no one doing any job should be truly miserable doing it, even if all that's making them happy is the prospect of larger paycheque in exchange for performing especially unpleasant tasks.
Them- Woo! It's Friday! You excited?! Me- ..... ...*wants so very badly to say "why the Hell would I be?"*.......yeah, sure. *Never gets asked again, is glad*
I like my job but there's a whole lot of it right now, so usually the approach of Friday is met with "Oh crap, I thought I had another day to get all this done."
My weekends were spent getting back all the sleep I lost throughout the week, and trying to heal all the damage the bastards did to me. It was never enough. Edit- 14thdoc's cartoon without the "refreshing" panel.
I believe the "refreshing" comment is supposed to be a sign of the protagonists delusional state. I've had those times in my life where I had nothing else going on but work and my days off were a hellish limbo with nothing to distract me from the emptiness of my existence.
14th doc and Uncle Albert, one of you needs to change your avatar. They look too much alike when reading the post and seeing hte avatar out of the corner of my eye.
No. He's just very verbose in his sarcasm. I should post his response to my text one morning asking him where he put the coffee when he cleaned the kitchen the night before.
Tomorrow is my Monday, but it is only a 4 day work week. If I thought I would annoy people I would walk into work shouting, "Its Monday!" or any other day of the week besides Friday.
