Alberta announcing it's plan to roll back restrictions later today, Saskatchewan is eliminating the vaccine passports on February 14th. It's so fucking stupid. Alberta's vaccine passport program doesn't even apply to retail businesses, just restaurants and bars, and what's hurting the hard and restaurants is patrons scared to go out because of covid. Letting the 15% of the population that remains unvaccinated back into restaurants doesn't do anything to make the majority of potential customers feel safer, it does the exact opposite.
Kinda makes sense, honestly. J&J's entire market share was people who knew the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were better, but also knew that something was better than nothing and took what they were able to get. Since there's no longer a supply problem, everyone from here on out is going to go for the better product.
Well fuck. My sister has Covid. She might have caught it this past Sunday, but not sure. We went to two different farmer's markets. I'm feeling fine, she started getting symptoms the day before yesterday. The farmer's markets are more like a grocery store but carry more locally grown products and both have seafood departments where most of the seafood is live when brought in. She didn't wear a mask, and apparently doesn't wear a mask that much when she goes to grocery stores or other places. She's had both vaccination and the booster. So yeah, she's my sister but she was stupid about wearing her mask. I wear mine and carry one wherever I go. Even if I run in to grab a pizza and I'm only in there for less than a minute. She doesn't have severe symptoms or anything, so that's good I guess.
So my parents finally told me the story of their cruise in COVID soup. It would seem that COVID infection is the not so surprise gift everyone can expect from a cruise. Evidently the cruise has to set aside a certain number of cabins to put people in once they get a positive for COVID infections. Upon getting on the ship my parents found their room was in a sealed off section with only one way into it and they were told to go to customer service rather than their room. At customer service they were offered a change of room because the cruise put them into a room that was in the area reserved for COVID. Those rooms were used on the previous trip for COVID victims, and the rooms are only scheduled for a deep cleaning every three uses. Theirs was used for a couple with COVID las trip and was not deep cleaned. Their luggage was already placed and sitting in the room in COVID central for their convenience. The cruise knew this was an issue, but despite being mandated to put these rooms aside would schedule new arrivals to be in rooms they knew were open for people who needed to be quarantined for COVID infection while at sea. Their computer booking assigned healthy people to rooms set aside in sections that were blocked off for COVID infections. Then they dipped the healthyy people's baggage into the COVID rooms like infected tea bags and gave it back to them. Then during the cruise they would expand the blocked COVID infection areas as more and more people got infected to include cabins with people in them that had not yet be infected. So while you were sleeping they would move the halways blocks to make it so your room was in the COVID areas without telling you. Then after you had to be exposed to the COVID people customer service would move your cabin to a healthy area at your erequest if you tested negative to a virus with a coup0le of day incubation period. Their friends who went with them on the cruise got caught up in that when the cruise had used up their space in the COVID positive section. Don't worry, they learned their lesson and in the late spring they are making sure to request they not be booked into the COVID section to start with on their month long cruise to europe. I guess my real question is since my grandmother died and left all her money to my parents, am I going to need to pay inheritance taxes twice next year? Are they just trying to get this shit twice in one year? The Duh could be flooding and you could not get me on a boat with the fucking plague rats.
Unless they have like $11 million to give you, it's tax free. Used to be $3 million. Thanks trump. Either way the estate pays it, not the inheritor.
The NZ Parliament Speaker is taking requests on Twitter for music to drive away the protestors. I suggested this catchy little number:
My sister is doing better, the worst for her has been the headaches and sore throat. My mom took one of the home Covid tests on Friday and it came back negative. She wasn't feeling any symptoms, but wanted to make sure she wasn't infected. I took one this morning, I haven't felt any symptoms but wanted to make sure as well. Was concerned that I may be asymptomatic. The test result was negative. So that's good.
anti-vaxxers are fucking idiots. Texas dad and mom's ordeal. She was 24 and pregnant. He was anti-vax. Not any more.
so no one wears masks? Our mask mandates ends tomorrow for indoors (except schools transportation nursing homes and jails).
The "advice" is still to wear masks in appropriate places, but its no longer a requirement. I think the only thing still left is that you have to isolate when you have COVID.
I have to admit I read that story like Morticia Addams reading the story where the character survived. I am glad he cfhanged his mind, but seriously he is an idiot who is lucky things were not worse. I would feel bad for him had she gotten vaxxed and that happened, and would actually want to help, but in this case I am dissapointed. Yes, I have a shitty side.
Yeah, we're pretty open except for masks which largely ends tomorrow. I assume a large chuck of the population will be mask free starting tomorrow. I'm not personally worried being triple vaxxed plus having Omicron (for now). But the case numbers are nowhere as low as they were last spring when mask mandates ended for the vaccinated (though everyone pretended to be vaccinated apparently).
