Two Soviet soldiers were on curfew duty as a man walked past.

One of them shot him much to his comrades surprise.

"Why did you do that?" he exclaimed, "curfew doesn't start for another half hour!".

"Don't worry" replied the shooter, " he was my friend and I know where he lives. He was never going to get there in time"

    Tired of tweets?

Here's a fascinating opinion piece from wapo (free article).

In it the former CIA Russian Operations manager expounds on what Putin has to fear the most. It also details the structure of Russian power. Here's a snip:

We will wag our fingers and then do the sanctions we were going to do anyway. We are not going to war with russia over chemical weapons use.

I saw an alleged "expert" on Youtube (to be fair he seemed credible and knowledgeable, but who really knows) who was analyzing the convoy situation and was running down a list of Russian Army shortcomings. He compared it to his own FUBAR experiences with the US Army in Iraq and finally said "All militaries suck. It's just a matter of which ones suck less." There may be an uncomfortable amount of truth to that... :spock:

Every day, the Russians get weaker. Every day, more weapons flow into Ukrainian hands.

Even if the Russians pull this out--and I think they still may--they're not going to be able to occupy Ukraine and keep some puppet government in place.

And the second they're gone, Western money's going to pour in and rebuild the place.

    Will it?

Zelensky has stated that Russia will pay to rebuild Ukraine. Which I initially took as seriously as Mexico paying for the wall. But then I remembered the $668 billion in frozen Russian Central Bank funds.

What are the odds those never make it back to Russia and instead go to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine?
