What's the publication date on that article? Because the most recent date I can find on it is 2020. And given that the experts on global warming are saying that the shit we're seeing this year is beyond what they expected, it's entirely possible that the article you linked to is out of date. If you followed the tweet to the source, you'll find the conversation between the folks in charge of the software that needs to be fixed discussing the subject. That was posted a week ago.
I followed it. Negative leap seconds aren't new or more frequent. The person twittering linked back to a thread quoting herself. Fucking tweets.
“For the first time in history Seattle has had six days in a row with highs in the 90s. I have lived here my whole life and I am literally seeing and feeling the climate change.” https://twitter.com/chrisvance123/status/1553879657061105665?s=21&t=SXywxAtfBp9_lIqx-kQ75A Weird how every summer we end up setting some kind of heat record. Wonder what ever could it be. Side note dude tweeting is a former King County Councilmember, State Legislator and State Party Chair… for the Republicans! Back before Trump took over we had reasonable Republicans in this state. As you can probably guess he is now an ex-Republican.
Wow. If you don’t get that Reading Comprehension up you’ll never get the ACT scores needed to get into a decent university.
Live far away from Seattle and think 6 days of temps in the 90s is no big deal? Think again & imagine enduring that with no air conditioning! The Seattle metro is the least air-conditioned metro in the nation, with 56% of Seattle-area homes lacking A/C. https://twitter.com/kseattleweather/status/1553913423347339264?s=21&t=SXywxAtfBp9_lIqx-kQ75A
To copy paste myself from last year: Due to East Coast Bias and the projection of most maps, I don’t think most folks realize just how far north Seattle is. Seattle is further north than all of Maine. Over 70% of Canadians live south of Seattle. Seattle is as far north of Chicago as Chicago is of Las Vegas. 6+ days of over 90 temps isn’t just historic but also just fucking nuts!
I’m in Oregon this week. Enjoyed driving through the new fire on the CA border. Luckily I’m staying on the coast. I swear coastal living may be the only way to survive summer now.
Athens Greece is experiencing its highest temps in recorded history. Athens has a little bit of a recorded history. But sure…
Weather isn’t climate and I never said nothing to see. Obviously the climate changes, that’s not in dispute.
Actually, climate should stay relatively stable. It's the weather that changes. Climate change is a term used to describe increasing core temperature of the Earth thus causing the climate that should be stable, to change. The question to you is, do you believe the core temperature of the Earth is rising and thus causing the climate to change?
Follow up question, if you believe the core temperature of the Earth is rising and thus causing the climate to change, do you believe that change is caused by humans?
No, I believe we are heading into a cooling period. The earth is slowly re-entering the next ice age. We are also in a period where solar activity slows down. IIRC, it started around 2019 and will continue for the next decade.
Welcome to the duh motherfuckers. Where is that tiny violin for the whiners? The high temps suck, but you get used to it. It is just going to get worse so get some air conditioning and prepare.
I’m no historian but I believe Athens has been around a minute. And they have had scientist types and people who could write things down for a while. So when they are breaking historical records it seems like that is the definition of historical. But again, no historian.
The concept of temperature as something measurable, and the ability to measure and record temperature empirically is only a couple of hundred years old in any civilization. It might have been hotter in Athens in 1000 BC, or 500 BC or 500 AD or 1000 AD or even 1500 AD but we'd have no way of knowing.
Not true. Trees grow differently in hotter weather. Plato might not have been able to use a thermometer, but all we need are samples of trees from when he was alive, and we can compare the growth rings to those of trees since the advent of thermometers to get an idea of how things compare. Can't peg specific degrees, but you bet your ass we can figure out if the average temps were warmer way back when than they are now. Now, please, explain to us how you can be certain that the Earth is only about 6,000 years old and that Noah's flood actually happened.
For proving you don't know shit? You're welcome. We don't need to know if Athens in 1500 BCE hit 90 degrees to have an idea of what the climate was like back then. All we need to know is a general idea. If Athens in 1500 BCE was having warm periods that lasted as long as the warm periods we have in a given year now, the growth rate of trees back then will be the same as they are now. If, however, Athens in 1500 BCE had a different amount of warm periods than they do now, that'll show up in the growth rings of trees from the era. And it does. Not to mention all the data we get from ice cores about the weather in times past.
Anything to ignore facts and pretend the bible is true rather than complete fiction. It is amazinmg how this dipshit will believe stories about a man walking on water, worldwide floods, and flaming bushes that speak, but put some actual science around and he is all about denying.
I accept your surrender. Your god couldn't be bothered to do shit during the Holocaust (and any of a number of other genocides), but please, go on thinking that he's somehow real and going to save you.
