We’re getting a heat wave up here too, makes me really worried we’re going to have a really bad summer for forest fires A lot of them happen like 400-500km inland from Vancouver but they’re so big that the thick smoky haze comes all the way down to the coast and covers the city for weeks

Fortunately, our government is going to really address this problem decisively and with all due haste. Source: https://thehill.com/policy/energy-e...acks-trump-era-approval-of-controversial-line Well, it was nice knowing you all.
Of course, there was weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth over his cancellation of the Keystone Pipeline
It was a good decision, but between this and the continued allowance of fracking, it's clear we're not going to move remotely fast enough to get out of our own way, let alone improve things to the point where we can start pulling back some of the effects we're going to face in the next several decades. Our countdown clock is running down, and it seems like "business as usual" with a few small changes is the order of the day. We need better, we need it faster, and it's not really up for negotiation at this point. If we can make the 2030 date for significantly reduced emissions and make it to net zero emissions by 2050, we can keep the earth from going past a 1.5C warming trend, which is still going to be troublesome. Otherwise, we'll see 2C, maybe even 3C, and at that point, no one's going to have a good time, regardless of wealth.
I've been in 122 F dry heat in Phoenix, AZ (June 26, 1990). I don't even want to imagine 113 with humidity and no AC.
I've done 115 down near Medford back in '92. I'm not looking forward to this nonsense here in Portland
Due to East Coast Bias and the projection of most maps, I don’t think most folks realize just how far north Seattle is. Seattle is further north than all of Maine. Over 70% of Canadians live south of Seattle. Seattle is as far north of Chicago as Chicago is of Las Vegas. 110 up here is FUCKING NUTS.
Small world. If you’re taking 101, you’ll pass the place we left this morning. It’s on Hood Canal and was surprisingly cool. Good luck!
