that'd be the point... you've taken criticism of an opinion, made it personal, and then go all aggrieved like this in just about everything with everybody lately.

I haven't called you anything in that part of the discussion-called your tone and behavior a few things (like turning mansplaining into a useless weasel word), sure-but there hasn't been an ad homme at all.

Dude. Let it go. You’ve made your decision. You’d rather mock me and UA than engage in actual real discussion with me. It’s ok. That’s how you want to post. Cool. I don’t care.

Yeah, I was going to respond to her crazy accusations but then remembered she's the female @oldfella1962.

yeah... the one above your post here is so much gaslight I think she's going goth.

Like seriously, where do I mock her?

(admittedly, I mock him all the time, but we covered that in how I think he's a shit excuse of a human)

So your first mistake was reading Tererun’s post. Don’t do that. Never worth it. Just block them and move on. Nothing of value will be lost and a lot of time will be regained.

    About that....
I repeat myself, but...when I looked up (or tried to) the amount of money the government provides to the Queen/King wasn't as much as I expected. It also raised the question in my mind as to whether an elected president's office would really be any cheaper given all the bullshit duties an elected Head of State would have to deal with.:clyde:

The problem was she wasn't the side chick. Diana was, for the optics.

Yeah, someone at TBBS proposed the idea of an elected HoS with a 25 year term instead of hereditary monarchy, and I asked whether anyone would actually WANT the job given the lack of political power (hence no lobbyists courting you) or influence once out of "office" (so no cushy jobs afterwards either) and having to meet/travel as per the political needs of the nation, and you can't really speak your mind. So the lavish lifestyle may wear a bit thin given you always - ALWAYS - have to be "on stage".

They hoped this might mean that only genuinely selfless folk would apply.

If it was being Spider-Man, maybe. Otherwise fuck that.

That’s probably true. But, if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have known about the insults toward me that SpaceTurkey agreed with.

Maybe I am a bit thin skinned. I take integrity very seriously.

Then he shouldn’t have been a dick and married Diana. As it was, and he did it because his mommy told him to, he’s as much to blame as his mommy.

I jsut looked at 8 pages of reps I've given in the last month.

okay, so I laughed about "cockgobbles in brokedick jeep." and when T posted her "work pic" as being a glory hole.

anything else seems to be laughing at cockgobble in your tag team roast thread? You can see my posts (not sure how that's news, being a message board and all) so look for yourself... again.

funny thing, you have no issue joining in when we're taking the piss out of federline farmhand... gave you plenty of laugh and winner reacts in that greatest hits thread, among others.

might wanna pull that 4x4 outta your eye socket.

That's really the rub, isn't it? Somebody's gotta do those bullshit jobs and the Queen did them superbly. The U.S. combined head of state with head of government and usually it works out okay, although we do have awkward moments like Carter making a "Montezuma's Revenge" joke to the Mexican President or Trump (for one example) saluting a NK General and...never mind....
There really is no perfect system. At least the UK monarch has the ear of the PM (and vice versa). I really doubt an elected H of S would do better overall, but that's up to the ones under that system. :clyde:

He married Diana because marrying Diana was supposed to be the best thing for the monarchy, and the concept of putting duty above happiness was drilled into him from birth after his great uncle did the opposite.

What I wonder about is if this was explained to Diana beforehand, or if it was just assumed that she understood how those sorts of things worked with royals traditionally having wives and mistresses. I've read before that Philip tried to explain it to her later and advised her to embrace it and have affairs of her own, and looking at Harry makes it seem like she had at least one... but I dunno. :clyde:

I feel bad for them. Sure, they live cushy lives, but they're also living like glorified zoo/circus animals their entire lives, and almost all of them have been gaslit into believing they have to keep it up for the good of the country.

It sure would have been better for everyone if he had been allowed to marry Camilla to begin with, but I guess there were...reasons....
Prince Phillip worked for environmental causes and to provide educational opportunities for working class youths. The Prince's Trust has raised lots of money for charity. Trying to lead a worthwhile life probably isn't easy when the means and temptations to do a Paris Hilton are always there.

I must be one of the others. Never said a disrespectful word that I can remember. Didn't stop her from basically accusing me of mansplaining a little while back. Don't know and thus no opinion on what y'all are discussing here but... I was disappointed.

When Jenee is annoyed or upset she spices up her insults with poor attempts at psychoanalysis. I've personally been accused of hating women, of being "the very first person to post a screaming torrent of vile names" at anyone who disagrees with me, and of desperately attempting to win the approval of the right-wing members of the board because reasons.

There's a reason Jenee gets called the female oldfella, and why Federal Farmer gets called Boy Jenee. :async:

yeah... disappointed pretty much describes the reaction to that bit of the thread.

identity and gender may be a spectrum, but acceptance isn't.

I've probably been a bit heated with her at some point, but I try not to dump on her or any of the board's other usual targets. I often don't agree with Jenee but I do think she cares and that goes a long way.

Aww. Thank you. That’s very sweet.

As for the rest of it …, I’ll be the first to admit that, depending on the poster, I have in the past, and let’s be honest, probably will again at some point in the future, engage in the trouncing of an individual poster. It’s one of those things that … make message boards message boards. It’s like 3rd grade. And when the children smell blood in the water, they start circling. I look at it like Mr. Bennet says in Pride and Prejudice ‘For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbours, and laugh at them in our turn?’
