Trying to piece it together, but looks like Brett Farve stole a couple million from (the poorest state in the nation’s) welfare fund for speeches he didn’t make and lobbied to divert other TANF dollars to build a new volleyball stadium at his daughter’s college.

A couple corrupt Rs went to prison (for ~$50m stolen from the state’s TANF money). He had to pay the million and change he got for the speeches he didn’t make back, and it all went away. But now the volleyball thing is coming out and the current Governor is shutting down the investigation?

Brett Favre: Will the media find out that we're using welfare funds intended to help the poorest residents of America's poorest state to build a volleyball center?

Nancy New: Nah. Oh yeah, the governor is fully on board!

"Current Gov. Tate Reeves abruptly fired the attorney bringing the state’s case when he tried to subpoena documents related to the volleyball stadium."

Wow. It's like meta levels of corruption.

Wait, you're telling me the NFL's all time leader in interceptions is prone to making bad decisions?

Athletes have literally been siphoning money from cities like this for 60-70 years. You think when a city invests in a new sports stadium it's profitable for the city? Lol. Oldest grift in the book. Might as well have built a monorail.

It is fitting the MS is realizing they are being scammed by their beloved football gods.

Do AU next. Do I mean Auburn or Alabama U? Yes.

Stadiums should be funded by the billionaire owners. Period. I love sports and seeing sports live but it’s atrocious that this isn’t the case

More importantly, why does he pronounce his last name differently than the letters are arranged?

I went to high school with two brothers with the same last name. They pronounced it similar to the word "favor," which makes fucking sense.

    I have three guesses:

1: He's dyslexic and also too arrogant to acknowledge he fucked up his own name. (It's cool if I mock arrogant dyslexic people because I am one.)

2: He decided two syllables was too many and opted for one, while failing to realize that instead pronouncing it like "fave" a) would probably have been a good marketing move for his career in whatever sport he played, and b) still isn't right but makes more sense than "farve."

3: After thousands of illiterate sports fans mispronouncing it constantly, he just gave up and went with it. As someone with a difficult-to-pronounce last name that people insist that I correct them on and then continue to get wrong, I was beyond giving a shit half my life ago.

This seems to be a little more direct and a little more blatant than usual, though.

Yeah. Tax subsidies are one thing but taking directly from the state’s welfare fund is a little too on the nose.

Then again this is the state government that gave over $100million in rent relief back to the Feds.

Jesus. Yet another bullshit thing that needs to be fixed. When Congress changed welfare funding to block grants used for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) they absolutely screwed the pooch. To wit:

Not only does this not appear to be illegal, there's no oversight. Just outright corruption - again. Clinton signed it, both Houses were controlled by Republicans who drafted the legislation, the Speaker of the House was Newt Gingrich.

This shit is fine with the right wing NFL fans, but OMG another player who supported getting vaccinated is having gay psy-op dating with Taylor Swift and all of them lose their motherfucking shit. I would have said minds, but we all know they have shit for brains.
