So is this saying Toronto is like faux Canadia, or that Seattle is faux america?

Given that if you combine the biggest fairweather fans of the Jays with the biggest fairweather fans the Mariners, I propose we name this wildcard game the Vancouver Bowl

My longtime fandom of the Jays is a matter of record, but I have no opinion or interest regarding geographical trivia.

Certainly Seattle's pitchers, on the whole, throw harder - but if you consider just the guys on the playoff rosters, the results for each staff are VERY similar, and the Jays lag mainly because they brought Kikuchi along.

OTOH, the Mariners have a below average overall offense and the Jays are first or second in the AL almost every category and second in runs scored. And that's with VGJ being just very good and not insanely good as he was in 2021.

Manoah had one bad inning (literally the first time he'd given up a first inning run in almost 2 months) and Castillo didn't. All respect, but objectively throwing harder hasn't produced a better outcome over the course of the season.

The Jays have not lost a game in which they scored 9 runs in their last 54 such games.

I was okay with yesterday, because it had an obvious explanation - no one was gonna hit Castillo that day. Today was just some weird baseball gods shit - maybe compensation for 2001?

There's no objective talent/results (previous results) based reason to think this game wouldn't work out FINE, as it basically always does when you have a seven run lead in the sixth - it just didn't. We (Jays fans) can quibble about turning Santana around, or pulling Gausman, or not bringing Yimi out for the 8th But on talent it should have worked. It just didn't.

Not unlike that weird ass game a couple of weeks back when KC was behind Seattle 11-2 in the sixth and still won 13-12.
    Baseball is weird.

The parallels here to the Leafs are are giving me such a sports boner right now

It’s just so great when Toronto fights all year just to get tossed out like hot garbage in the first round

To be fair, Vancouver needs to step up its game and get into the MLB and/or NFL (really though, 'NFL' with Canadian teams seems... inaccurate).
    Also, 'Vancouver Canadians'? :chris:
I'd have more respect for 'Vancouver Salmon' :diacanu:

to be fair, Canadian NHL teams in general have had an abysmal championship record for the past 30 years with a single cup win by MTL in '93 and a combined six losses since.

because if you're a young male free agent millionaire, where do you want to live

curiously, such people tend to sign with the likes of New York or Florida instead of *checks notes* Calgary or Edmonton
