Snow doesn't seem to be hitting us, but I walked out to the street, got a faceful of -30 windchill, and said nope just walked the dogs around in the lee of the house instead.
I got a notification from DoorDash saying they've temporarily shut down in Grand Rapids... If the gig apps shut down when it reaches Detroit, I'm gonna be pissed. Although, if my understanding of how lake effect works is at least reasonably close to accurate, Grand Rapids is probably getting hit harder than Detroit will.
Only gonna be 23c/73f today. (Should really go outside if just to clean these bedroom windows though)
No weed today unfortunately. While getting high and doing gardening is a good time I have to drive later today.
We missed the snow but it's been raining straight for 36 hours and the temp is about to go down to 5F. I've been hearing sirens all morning due to all the traffic accidents.
As of now, about an inch of snow on the ground, and it's cold. The Uber map has more surges than would be normal, some as high as $7.50, along with a notification that demand is high for grocery orders (usually they pay decently but are a pain in the ass. ) I'll probably be out the door in an hour and will be sticking to rideshare, no Uber Eats or Shop and Pay. Lyft has $9 bonuses, but generally pays slightly less than Uber. Doordash seems to still be on its "you will take shit orders, actually lose money working for us, and fucking like it!" thing it's been on since October.
that always was one of the better things about getting high vs drunk. high: drive? I can't even stand. drunk: ah'm fahn.. gunna take teh high (hic) way. still can't figure out how I used to ride a motorcycle through this shit though.
Yep, today is a good day to be an Uber driver who isn't a total coward. The roads aren't even that bad. While this weather is a solid 8 as far as the shittiness of existing in it, it's only about a 4 as far as shitty driving conditions. Last night was worse, because the roads were wet and super reflective, and apparently everyone drives with their high beams on at all times now. Well, back to work.
It was 66 at 7pm here, and by the time I drove to walmart the temp went to 68. This cold front is insane. We are going to have to call off christmas at this rate because Santa is going to run into the sun if he is more than 10 feet off the ground. The sun is so bad down here all the baby jesus are turning black again.
I was wrong. During the lock-down I was I was making about $30/hr on DoorDash. Today I made, uh, everyone look over there for second. *Does math in the Red Room while everyone's distracted* Today I made $37.80/hr.
