DA Willis says charging decisions are "imminent". Trump lawyers say they must not have anything to worry about since Trump wasn't subpoenaed or even invited to testify. Willis is arguing that the report needs to be kept sealed to protect the integrity of the investigation and the rights of possible defendants. :spock:

There's various stories that say that he wasn't really serious about even his first presidential run, that he went in expecting to lose and to leverage the publicity to do some sort of Trump Media business. And of course, there is the notion that he is mainly running in the hopes that it will deter prosecutors from coming after him for the various things he's being investigated for or make it less likely that he will actually be convicted as he and his supporters yell "WITCH HUNT!" never minding that enough witches have been bagged and tagged to constitute a coven.

With all these people turning out to have classified documents, I should check to see if I have any, just to be sure.

Nope, I don't have any. The closest I could find Is a folder called "Classified Documents" buried deep in my Document's folder's vast series of nested "files from my old computer" folders. That "Classified Documents" folder just contains a few notes about my plan to take over the world when I was a teenager.

    The Plan:

1: Show everyone how smart I am

2: Everyone realizes I'm smart, right about everything, and that things would be better if everyone just did what I say they should do.

In my defense, that's only slightly stupider than how Peter and Valentine took over the world in Ender's Game.

Also in your defense, still better than how Trump, Putin, et al, have/are attempted/ing it.
But not as good as my plan to take over the world: Can't be bothered :diacanu:

Lawyers aiming to prosecute Trump in NY worried they might have to prove he wasn't insane:

While I am convinced that nothing short of death, maybe not even that, will erode the MAGAt base, a finding that he was/is insane might be the final blow to anyone who was wavering. Of course, there's always DeSantis... :chris:

I can't figure out if DeSantis is better or worse, on net.

He seems like he could be the halfway-competent fascist we keep talking about ... the guy who's just as craven and nasty as Trump, but has enough self-control to keep himself from constantly stepping on his own dick the way Trump does.

On the other hand, he doesn't seem to have Trump's ability to motivate the truly trashy people who only seem to crawl out from under their rocks when the Prince of Mar-A-Lago is on the ballot.

Everything I've read and heard about DeSantis is that the guy is a genuine, real-life prick. As David Frum of The Atlantic noted on MSNBC, most successful politicians have a certain amount of charm...Reagan, both Bushes, Clinton, GWB, Biden, all have the ability to project an aura of someone who would be pleasant to meet. Some, more than others, but they all have it. Trump in his own way has the MAGAts convinced that he's their buddy although it's clear to everyone else that he holds the great unwashed in great contempt. Frum says while most politicians when handed a baby will kiss it. DeSantis would punch it in the face. Kinda reminds me of UA come to think of it. If you think UA could get elected President, you might think DeSantis could as well...

Historically, many fascist leaders have come to power with a lot of people thinking they are better people or less ruthless than they actually are. Despite Hitler's views being well established for many years, there was a strong portion of people who either laughed at him as having no chance of getting power or said that if he did the realities of power would moderate his views.

Judge in the Fulton County Grand Jury orders partial release on jury's findings on 2/16, including the introductions and conclusions of the final report, and Section VII - which includes one or more members of the grand jury speculating that some witnesses may have lied under oath. Those witnesses are not named.

So guess we'll see depending on the findings, which we won't know until the 16th. But clearly allowing unfettered speculation as to the testimony of witnesses under oath without naming them or giving any evidence to why the belief is they might have lied is pretty prejudicial.

If I recall correctly, witnesses might be at risk of criminal charges if their testimony is so conflicting that they can't be reconciled as simple mistakes or "memory lapses" even if it can't be determined which of them is lying. I wouldn't hold my breath that anyone would be charged, but it's good material when it comes to :corn:

She should have kept quiet, but I don't think there's any great risk of damaging any cases, simply because the "Special" grand jury doesn't have the power to issue indictments and no names (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) were spoken. :clyde:
