yeah, there is a whole backstory in Rebels... nothing in it to preclude her being force sensitive. Quite the opposite if you consider many of the stunts she pulled instinctively in the same way that 9 year old Anakin could pod race.
There's nothing in the backstory of Rebels to suggest Sabine even might be force sensitive. In fact, Kanan didn't want to teach here because she wasn't force sensitive and could be seriously injured using the dark saber. The physical abilities and agility are part of being Mandalorian, not force sensitive. And Paz Vizsla, the Armorer, and Bo Katan - as well as Moff Gideon were all able to wield the darksaber with as much ease as Jedi wield a lightsaber.
not sure Kanan's opinion matters-Qui Gon still needed to test how strong Anakin was/could be despite being a Jedi master standing beside the most powerful force sensitive ever. yet in the clutter of Maul's hide out, she instinctively reached out and grabbed the dark sabre. she leaps well above her own height several times and lands from multi storey drops (she doesn't have a jet pack most of the time) per TLJ, most beings do have some level of latent sensitivity. she speaks droid... not sure I can recall anyone who could do that not being at least passively force enabled Is she Jedi level? probably not. Chirrut Imwe/Force guardian potential though? Why not?
Kanan didn't test Ezra either. and no one tested Luke. I got the impression Sabine caught sight of the darksaber out the corner of her eye, then went to it. So does Bo Katan and all other Mandalorians in Clone Wars and Rebels. Not so much in live action of The Mandalorian. Which ... is .. to be expected She may have some level - normal in that galaxy, but that's no reason to think Ahsoka is going to teach Sabine to be a Jedi. Andor and his mother and everyone else in that town speak to B2EMO I like Sabine as a normal Mandalorian. She's a strong, independent female of her race. and she's badass without the need for magic to prop her up.
Nope... but Kanan did observe Ezra doing some clearly force level shit in E1. Luke (and Leia) were kind of obvious/known already and the intent was to hide their potential. Arguably, both of them were also instinctively using it though. Luke as a pilot (his first conscious but untrained use is to plop those torpedoes down a womprat sized hole in a perfectly straight line, while she was already a top negotiator/spy hinting at some mind trickery) Bo and all the other Mandos have jet packs, Sabine points out that she doesn't. Why wouldn't Sabine teach her given the nature of their relationship/partnership? B2 spoke standard, not binary. It makes it more believable that she can fight a force wielder like Shin if in the years of and after the rebellion she learned how to draw on her own latent ability from not only Ahsoka, but possibly Luke. One thing that flies under the radar is Ezra's birthday is literally the day before Luke and Leia. In my head that implies that he could've been a "back up" chosen one with a shit load of force potential/midichlorians. Ahsoka is beyond being a Jedi ever since she was resurrected in CW (and, I guess technically in Rebels) With four of the most powerful force wielders of a generation around her, along with others she may meet along the way, it'd be absurd for her not to have at least picked up some basic defensive skills. I can't see how that diminishes her achievements nor her agency?
Sure, she could pick up a few basic defensive skills. I just think it takes away from her character to rewrite her as force sensitive.
I thought the first two episodes were very much a Rebels reunion. I like where it's going so far and there are real stakes at hand. The actress playing Sabine really had the look down at the end of the second episode.
God this is slow. I feel I’m watching them play a puzzle video games. Ahsoka spent ten minutes moving pieces around to get the map sphere. Sabine spent ten minutes fingering the map sphere to make it glow lights. And then a heaping of lip service to the cartoon show. Fuck Star Wars.
It'd explain ET being in the senate, but I hope not i did notice they had purgill around the ring that opened up the path...
From what I've read, the major media rags aren't too keen on the series and have basically said it's a hard pass unless you're a hardcore Star Wars geek.
Ha! I knew she wasn't Omega!! I like it so far. Nothing about it to hate. It does appear the show will be very female-centric. Not that it's a bad thing. Most movies and tv shows have always been male-centric. I just hate the way Hollywood writers write dialog for female characters. Fuck. Just write the script, then cast whoever portrays the character best. I like live action Hera (so far) and Natash Bordizzo totally nailed Sabine (in my opinion). I'm really hoping the Eman Esfandi doesn't fuck up Ezra.
how so? seems more like continuance to the storylines established and alluded to in Rebels. It would've fit, but I won't lose tears over being wrong on that one. We'll call Sabine's FOrce sensitivity debate a draw as she was clearly on the short speederbus to jedi school? I was a little unsure over the Hera casting, but so far so good. We can assume to see Zeb at some point, and ideally Carson Teva... I know he voiced Fenn Rau, but I REALLY want to see Kevin McKidd as Kallus. anyone else hating the blue uniforms for new republic drones?
I hate the blue uniforms. The brown uniforms have been Rebel Alliance colors for so long, it’s off putting.
I’m still unsure about the force sensitivity thing in relation to Sabine. I mean … everyone hates the whole midiclorians (sp?)(whatthefuckever) thing, but if they go with that, then, she (according to the bot) has a very low midclorian count. However, if it is like …. what most people on Earth call “magic” and just need the concentration/ability to “tap into” the force, then I can buy that storyline over the midiclorian thing.
A question posed by Robert Meyer Burnett is doers Star Wars have anything to say anymore? ESB gave us a lot of definitive answers about how the force works, “ is the dark side stronger?” Yoda tells us no, but then we get midiclorians. So anyone can be force sensitive. Anyway ,in ESB, we get a lot of lore. In Clone Wars we get a lot of lore and in Rebels we get a lot of lore. So Asoka is a continuation of Rebels. So does tat show have any philosophy behind it? Maybe not Jedi philosophy, but Aśoka’s personal philosophy and I’m fine with that. Would I like it to go deeper, yes, but it’s only been two episodes. Chill.
No one liked the first three episodes of Andor either, but it is arguably the best Star Wars story to date. It’s just starting. Be patient.
Watched the two episodes twice. Definitely a drag on the first pass, but I enjoyed it better the second.
yea... I mean it's essentially a 10 hour movie and we're just in the first act. these first two eps got us our central characters together and established the McGuffin, which is all they needed to accomplish.
For those who may not get all of the connections to Clone Wars or Rebels or who have forgotten, here's a nice guide to all of the Easter eggs and references.
