My username is a combination of a person and a governmental entity in a sci-fi story I've been working on since I graduated high school.
Another example of you not having the faintest idea what you're talking about. The official workweek in France is 35 hours, and that applies only to salaried employees, which is not my case. Not even close. Do you ever grow weary of being wrong, or do you just deny it and call anything that disagrees with your worldview "fake news"?
When proven wrong he tells you to "calm down" and then giggle about how he "owned another liberal". (yes, he's so far gone, he regards you as a "liberal")
In many ways, I am a liberal. Even very liberal. In other areas, I am quite conservative. Mostly I just sag in the middle, though. It's the age...
Most people are like this. Most people, though, believe “the other side” is evil. So would never admit it.
One side is actively seeking to undermine democracy in order to "rule" instead of governing. But go ahead and keep saying there's no real difference...
I'm not sure I'd call that a "side", at least in terms of conservatives vs. liberals. Those seeking to undermine democracy are not conservatives. Conservatives want to hold on to old values. Democracy is a very old value in the US. Those seeking to see elections decided by courts and insurrections rather than by voting are traitors to the values that made America what it is. They are the exact opposite of conservatives. I do find it extremely troubling, though, that one political party is so heavily influenced by these kinds of people that true conservatives who actually want a rule of law are branded "RINOs" and everything is done to prevent them from being elected or having any influence in the party. I have come to the conclusion that the Republican Party, as it now stands, and the brand of Christianity that much of the fascist branch of that party espouses, form the greatest danger to American society at present. The younger generation is opposed to all that, overall, so if the country can survive the next 20 years (maybe even the next 10 years would suffice), there is good hope for the long run. But if Donald Trump is re-elected, or if he is the nominee and is not elected but incites an insurrection by his continued lies that any election he loses is necessarily "stolen", all bets are off. I can hardly believe I used to consider the Republicans the lesser of two evils. I do not recognize what the party has become today.
Watching The Ten Commandments is a springtime tradition in my house going back to childhood and in recent years this scene has made me think of MAGA. And the people sinned a great sin, for they had made them a god of gold. And they bore him upon their shoulders and rejoiced, saying, 'This be our god, O Israel.'... They were as children who had lost their faith. They were perverse and crooked and rebellious against God. They did eat the bread of wickedness, and drank the wine of violence, and they did evil in the eyes of the Lord. And the people cried, 'The graven image hath brought us joy,' and they worshipped the golden calf and sacrificed unto it....
True, though you could argue they've simply concluded that some old values (democracy) are in the way of holding on to others (racism, religious control, unfettered capitalism).
No, it's creeping into mainstream Democrats too. The climate czar John Kerry is one of the cultists who told us in 2009 that in five years the arctic will be ice free. He flies around in his private jet lecturing us about how we should live. Instead of being called a nut job, Biden rewards him with a cushy appointment.
dude you call yourself a libertarian how is that quantitively different from wicca or scientology? and between the literal epidemic of wildfires here and throughout Russia, you're really trying to dismiss polar ice declines for not being fast enough? that's some super strong kool aid ya got there, kiddo
You'd think that all of these predictions from politicians not coming true would tell you something, but they don't because the kool aide is that strong. As for the wildfires go, you've convinced yourself that they are the result of climate change, but we don't know that. You're just making assumptions. There could be a myriad of reasons for these fires.
Who does "the extreme left" worship like a golden calf? Last time I checked the extreme left hated every mainstream politician and pretty much refused to vote at all.
reread this the forest fires (and the massive increase in them) were among those predictions but no... it was the jewish space lasers... anything but fossil fuel emissions!
Imma stop you right there. You know what the key word in that sentence fragment is? Politicians. They are not experts on anything other than politics (and oftentimes, not even then). If you want to understand global warming, you listen to scientists not politicians. Scientists have a better track record than politicians do. It ain't perfect, but it's a lot better.
