It’s ok to steal from the poor, but when you steal from the wealthy, there are consequences. Just ask Jordan Belfort.

Apparently, Tesla’s self-driving system is an order of magnitude more dangerous than human drivers.

That is what I want, a car with a cult of people that are going to be looking inside and then karening the fuck out of me because I did something wrong with my own desires and report me to the elon musk supreme leader to be sacrificed to the X-gods.

I do not need a car that screams cult of stupid, even if it happened to be a good car. I really do not want a teslatard elon fanboi to even come up to me and start talking to me about my car because they think we are all in the same cult. I also do not want other people assuming I like elon because I bought his car.

Let me nip that bullshit in the bud.

So Elmo had Joe Rogan shoot an arrow at a cybertruck for… reasons:

    IMG_0351.jpeg

    So which is dumber:

    - Thinking this is some kind of selling point

    - Thinking Rick Deckard’s name was Bladerunner

Let us not mention that to Elon so he doesn't buy the rights to bladerunner and then change the film so it is called Xrunner and the main character is called Xrunner. I know we would still have the original version saved, but Elon would them make twitter into a giant rogue virus that scanned everyone's media collection and changed it all whenever we read a tweet. I get that he would have to have someone else write the code, but I am sure he can buy some immigrant slaves through visas to do such a thing.

'Member back in the mid-90s when we slapped sanctions on Serbia to try and stop them from committing genocide? I will never forget how an NPR reporter described conditions in the country after the sanctions had been in place for a while: Blade Runner meets the 14th Century.

If the car swerved at speee into a tree that sounds a lot more like the drunk asshole in the driver seat took the controls and the autopilot would not have taken control away from the driver because it would be programmed to allow the driver to take control of the autopilot. When you are dealing with a drunk person you should not be putting them anywhere near the controls, and it sounds like this person was in the driver's seat.

If that is the case clearly it is not Tesla's fault. Even if the autopilot was full on good you still have the really good possibility the drunk fuckhead turned the wheel and the car responded how a mechanical device would.

They don't drive super well here in our weather. And there aren't many charging stations. There are a few kicking around but they really only use them for a-b work. They aren't really "a sub-zero drive across the prairies in 3 feet of snow" kind of car....

The hybrids are starting to get more popular tho.

I wonder if in the future they become more reliable than internal combustion engines in colder climates because they do not need as much warming up and they do not need to worry about fuel freezing. If you could get enough electricity economy they might be able to deploy solar and help a person survive in a snowstorm better than a gas car over time. If yopu could insulatye a core for the living while the machinery continued to gather energy for the batteries and a bit of heat it might be more survivable than a ICE with a few gallions of gas.

I would imagine that would be the future.

Maybe. But if you get stuck on the side of the road in a blizzard for 5-6 hrs more than hr from the closest town/city it's a lot easier to get people to bring you a jug of gas (or to fill up at a farm) than a charger.

Yeah they are city cars in spite of Tesla. In 10 years this will be different.

Cold weather performance is fine though, turn on the heat before going out. Battery range is less in sub freezing weather, but not a lot.

I know Atlanta is temperate, but it gets below freezing a lot.

14F after cold soaking in the driveway all night. On an 8 year old Leaf.

As far as blizzards and being stuck, I'd plan on a 12v blanket and socks. With a 24Kwh battery under the seat, you'd stay toasty for weeks.

No problem starting, no filling up in a blizzard, just plug it in from the comfort of your garage.

When the power goes out, you've got that 24Kwh battery to plug in your house.
