The answer to question number one is it was written to enshrine the right to bear arms and was written for the people to protect them from the government. the answer to question two is no. Is the 5th and 6th amendment less important than the 14th?
I believe the more worrisome aspect of this thread is that there are roughly 70-million Americans who think pretty much the same way Federal Farmer does.
Hey, Waterboy, take a break from your whataboutism and address the underlying point. Does the 14th Amendment apply to Trump or not? Do you think that he engaged in insurrection or gave aid and comfort to those who did? It seems like it would be tough to argue in good faith that promising mass pardons to those who were convicted of insurrection-related offenses, egging people on to commit the insurrection, blocking steps that might have made the insurrection more difficult, declining to take steps while the insurrection was going squarely put him in that category. Did Trump take an oath to uphold the Constitution? Again, yes. The notion that there needs to be some sort of finding or trial is not in the text of the amendment and probably was not required in previous times when it was invoked to prevent someone from holding office.
If the constitution does not protect from a traitorous russian asset stealing the US for Putin, then fuck that shit. It was doomed to begin with, and we need to fight his loyalists again so we can maker a secure country free of Trumpanzee rule.
Why is thew constitution such a great thing we have to love it? It enshrined slavery. It kept black people as second hand citizens without the right to vote, and counted them as 2/3rds a person so it could give that power to white land owning southern men to make sure it was harder to get rid of slavery. It did not apply rights to women, including the right to vote. How many obvious amendments have been made because the people who made it were so hopelessly stupid they could not predict some of these things? This is a terribly shortsighted document based on sexism, racism, and classism. Maybe we should not be throwing that around as something we all should love.
Unlike Drunky McDrunkface, I took an oath to defend the actual Constitution, not the one he and his fellow red hats jerk off to.
Is that a different constitution that doesn’t have a due process clause and a fifth and sixth amendment?
That is one of the reasons I do feel safe that a military coup will not be happening for Trump and the repugs who support him. For any complaints I have about the american military I believe they are overwhelmingly loyal to america and not trump, and any who might be loyal to trump or some right wing militias would find themselves removed from their positions and facing court martial for their involvement.
I have heared you cannot play an honest game of cum cookie with him because he always steals the cum cookie. Mods please change federal farmer's name to cum cookie monster.
Not in all crimes, but this one sure. Some crimes like Murder have an attempted category. I do not think we want to do that with a lot of crimes because it really does lower punishment for a real crime.
Where were the guns? If there was a planned insurrection then why didn't the Trump supporters, a group known for being heavily armed, why didn't they bring guns? Why were people just walking around not doing anything? I mean if it was an insurrection you'd think they would have planned it out better. Or maybe you don't what an insurrection actually is.
They fucking did, and they were stopped by metal detectors, and Trump wanted the detectors taken down. We've been over this, fuckface.
The best I can do as far an objective opinion on this is that it doesn't matter. Nothing anyone does matters because the cold embrace of the Void awaits us all and there's no escaping it. I mean really, what's the most any of us can do to affect anything? Blow up the sun? Stop the sun from blowing up if that's what it's about to do? It would be difficult, but it's plausible, but not much beyond that, at least not any time soon. There's billions of suns in this galaxy, and trillions of galaxies that we know of. Stars blow up or fail to blow up all the time; no one cares. Yet, the word "objective" starts getting thrown around over some idiot on some obscure planet who is upset because his name isn't on some pieces of paper because he asked some other people to lie about his name being on other pieces of paper?
