Didn’t CNN interview Osama Bin Ladin? Since when was it a bad thing to interview people considered an enemy of the US?

It's one thing to interview someone. It's another to be their sycophant.

I will say one thing and I’m sure people here will use this against me, but when I first met my ex wife I asked her what she thought about Putin and she completely was a fan of him. I pushed back on her and told her he was a dictator. She used a lot of BS excuses to justify his actions and I eventually dropped it because well, I was thinking with my other brain, but I never felt good about it. This was in 03/04 before he had started to go off the rails. It was clear to me even then that he was going to try and be a Czar type person. Make of that what you will. After we got divorced I often wondered if maybe she was a spy of some kind. The Americans tv show didn’t help that thought. Now I think she wasn’t a spy, but just ill informed. That was the only time I questioned who I thought she was/is, it was very unsettling at the time.

It's just like how there are people who defend Trump unconditionally. (No, that's not a rib against you.)
Both Trump and Putin have a cult of personality.

Biden has zero personality or charisma. Like it or not, Trump has charisma. I’m not making a value judgement, it’s just true. Biden has the charisma of a pet rock.

You're not wrong on the charisma. Personality could be debated, but it's beside the point.

Not gonna agree with Tucker Carlson generally, but an interview with Putin is something that we in the west badly need to hear.
The hysterical pushback against the very fact of it shows where we are right now.

Was Al Qaeda frequently airing CNN coverage as an example of the Americans on their side? Tucker is one of the American personalities most platformed by Russian state media, and it's hard not to see this as him getting a reward by them for saying the right things.

Yeah, she was here trying to steal our super sammich recipies, and she picked the right dude.

That was a googleplex of dayton points for you. Holy shit you are that fucking gone.

I used to have a batshit insane neighbor in AL named Frank, and I always wondered what he would be like if he got on the internet, and it is you. You really need to find a person to watch out for you. I don't wish you to be harmed, but I hope you have someone who looks out for you because some people are going to get you in trouble by lighting you up. In small southern towns those people know exactly who you are and use you in ways you do not know.

There is the problem. If he were to do that, he would have to admit to the way he has harmed people with his prejudice. That would make him feel bad about himself.

Take myself, I do not care about @Ten Lubak quoting my use of the N word and some racial slurs because I have actually seen where racism was taught to me. I try to counter that in a continuing fight in my life. So I do not care about him saying I am racist because I recognize I am white and black people should beware of racism with white people. I do my best to wash it off and listen to how I can do better because I care. They are just covering their shit up so they can exist in polite society because deep down they don't care about being racist at all, but it does disadvantage them when the POC have power, and they resent having to do that because they like stepping on people.

I just figure if some idiot is going to come and listen to tons of lube and not read what I say, then I do not really want that sort of person in my life anyway because they are shallow and likely to be fucking annoying.

In general I believe that people ought to be informed on all significant perspectives, even where those are objectionable. Information is power, and sunlight is a great disinfectant. Those trying to hide things are rarely doing so for benevolent reasons.

This applies to Putin, Bin Laden and anyone else you might think of.

Poland was wearing a short skirt, and a blouse that showed nipples, so was totally asking for it.
Ask all the old porch sitting guys who were there. Poland was shaking her ass all around town.
Lying little bitch. Trying to make poor Hitler look bad.

Would you like Tucker Carlson to conduct a fawning interview with a Nazi so they can spend 30 minutes lecturing the world on the superiority of the Aryan race? Or perhaps he could speak to a group of pedophiles so they can make their case to the people regarding the merits of adult/child relationships and lowering the age of consent to fifteen*?

"The marketplace of ideas" was a fine idea, but it didn't eliminate the worst ideas like we were promised it would. It just expanded their reach and made them more powerful.

If Tucker Carlson wants to do that, I'm fine with it. He will discredit the Nazi and himself if he allows such a lecture without challenge. (I haven't watched the Putin interview yet so don't know what Putin's "lecture" consisted of.)

If we don't have free speech in a "marketplace of ideas" then who do we allocate the power to determine what we should hear?

1.) In 2016, Trump got more media coverage than all the other candidates combined.
2.) Tucker Carlson is a wannabe halfwit. He doesn’t have the intellectual ability to ask important questions. Think of Piers Morgan, but dumber.

Because you said, "information is power, and sunlight is a great disinfectant." "Sunlight" alone is not enough enable people to understand a situation. They need context, and the "sunlight" needs to be shown on the right areas. If it isn't, and/or context isn't given, then people may not make the right decisions. I mentioned Piers Morgan, because he's the only European-based "reporter" that I know of who is considered to be a drooling idiot by a majority of people.

Carlson, whatever one might think of his politics, isn't the kind of person you want to have interviewing Putin, regardless of what one might think of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He doesn't have the kind of brainpower necessary to give proper context to Putin's views. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that Putin's invasion of Ukraine was justified, Tucker can't ask the kind of questions necessary to change anyone's mind on the subject. Again, assuming that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was justified, Tucker can't latch on to the kind of things that Putin said that might hint at a reason why most Americans would switch their position on the war. So, all this "interview" accomplished is a further hardening of the positions Americans already hold. Be that the war's justified, or that the war's unjustified. Which, I think that you'll agree, isn't helpful, no matter where one might stand on the war.

This is a read-between-the-lines situation. Say what you want about both Carlson and Putin, they (most likely) deserve it.
But what Putin was telling the West is that Poland incited Germany into war, and is putting Poland (and the West) on notice of possible future plans post Ukraine.

So seeing what Putin and Isreal do when you use the Nazis as the enemies it justifies everything you are doing and allows you to be the super awesome good guys.

Why don't they both just save some time and become 'mericans and then you don't need the nazis because everything you do is for the good of god and country.

What fascists? I do not see any fascists. I have been drinking Federal Farmer Ale, and I am, a victim. Now I am off to drive while the buzz is still on and break all my girlfriend's shit. Masybe when I grow some pubes my @Uncle Albert will tell his sexy girlfriend @Jenee to suck my dick. When I grow up I am going to vote for Rand Paul and RFK because they are real smart men who know where the alien anal probes go, and will never support trump, I pwomise. People around here really like me and they all are my friends. They just tell me to die in a fire for fun.

The Knowledge Fight guys do a fairly good breakdown on Tucker's interview with Putin. I say fairly good, because some of the questions they think Tucker asked Putin were stupid, I don't see as being stupid at all. Most of them were, but a couple of them were actually the kinds of questions that should have been asked of Putin. Overall, however, they make the very good point that the whole interview is utterly forgettable and is entirely unlikely to change anyone's mind about Putin or the war in Ukraine.
