Some things to consider: Trump's status as a "billionaire" (if we accept that he is in fact a billionaire) is built around real estate holdings. That is to say something other than liquid, spendable money. He's already on the hook for more than $80 million in the E Jean Carroll case.
He will certainly want to appeal..but...if I understand correctly under New York law he would have to post a bond for that amount to do it. Given his track record, if you ran a bonding agency would you want to be on the hook for that kind of $ ? :chris:

I saw where Trump said in an interview some months ago where he put his liquid cash at about $400 million. Between the Carroll case and this one he’s on the hook for about $440 million. Plus interest.

Lawfare at its best. Where’s @Order2Chaos our resident “libertarian” who should be against victimless crimes?

Trump got better terms by lying about his property values got a better deal than people who dealt honestly with the banks. Those are the victims. :brood:
Trump Casino's: bankrupt. Trump University: Fraud. Trump Foundation: shut down for fraud. Trump Organization now under a court appointed monitor after being found liable for fraud to the tune of $440 million and DJT and his two idiot sons barred from being involved in any New York business for a few years.
Might be worth remembering the next time you hear someone blather about running government like a business. :spock:

Where’s the charges for sub prime lenders, for example? Or the CEOs that were let off the hook for essentially the same thing? Why just Trump?

Other than supporting politicians you don't like and being a Jew, exactly what crime do you think George Soros has committed? How about Rick Scott who used to run the company that used to hold the record for Medicare fraud? :waiting:

Biff has been breaking the law for five decades.

The State of New York fucked us all by not going after him years ago.

I already did that and the answer is that W and Obay let the CEOs slide while the rest of us suffered and it’s obvious that the left is purposely targeting Trump while ignoring everything those douche bags did to the American people.

    We can only hope.

Well, they should. But while you're waiting for that to happen, don't commit massive fraud and you won't need to complain about getting massive fines for your fraud while other frauds walk free.

Implicit in FF’s juvenile musing is his admission that Trump is a criminal.

For a non-Trump supporter, you sure find a bunch of strange hills to die on

Anyway, Trump's fraud was not victimless in this case. The banks lost out on interest payments that they would have gotten if Trump hadn't scammed them. That further would have trickled down to the public, as those banks would have paid taxes on the increased earnings from the loans

The bank said they were happy to have him as a customer. No bank filed a complaint and people testified that they didn’t feel like they were victims of fraud. He even paid his loans back with interest. It sounds to me like an over zealous prosecutor and an over zealous judge just wanted revenge. Oh and excuse me if I have little sympathy for banks that give out loans to people they know are shady.

The shopkeep thought he was a great guy. Really charming.

I guarantee you that this is a one time deal in how the law is applied in this case. This is Trump specific and if it weren’t Trump, you’d see certain posters here saying the same thing I’m saying.

FYI, there’s now a GoFundMe to help Trump pay the judgements. First day it raised $28,000. At that rate, before interest, it would take more than 44 years to pay those bills. :spock:

If a bank official testified that they were in fact happy that they didn't make the additional money that they would have if Trump hadn't defrauded them by lying about his assets, I'd say that's about as believable as a woman talking about how clumsy she was in falling down stairs and walking into cabinets leaving all those bruises strangely shaped like fists.

And yeah, those whore banks asked for it.
