underhand allows for slightly better resistance when tearing across and down, I've found

there's also the ergonomic aspect of when you wipe, you're naturally using the inside face of the TP that hasn't been exposed to the, umm, elements.

Because that's how I was taught to do it when I did housekeeping.

Just so you know, when your mom makes you clean the bathroom that is called chores, and is not employment as a housekeeper. I know that probably worked on the subway manager, but it does not work on us.

Not a hotel, at a couple of national parks.

Now I’m imagining the rangers at the state park in which I worked trying to explain to me how the toilet paper should be placed. And I’m laughing my ass off. But, if I think further …, I think there was a woman, not a ranger, who returned every summer to look after the bathrooms at the electric sites and at the beach. She may well have told me to put the toilet paper on a specific way, but I sure as hell didn’t remember after she walked away and certainly not now nearly 40 years later.

Well they wanted it to be uniform and look nice so you also had to fold it into a triangle. These are the expansive lodges, not the tents.
