Nope, if it were you'd get 2^1 = 2c and 3^2 = 9c. Warp 2 is 2^3 or 8c. This means you need warp 5 to get over 100c or about the level it starts being convenient to travel long distances, but you might still be in for a few weeks' travel.

I did forget the liquid schwartz, T. Though in Trek it's called saurian brandy.

The only thing drawing me to Starfleet Academy is Tawny Newsome as a writer.

Whether people (by which I mean the early millennial and Gen Xer demo that grew up on TNG and cannot conceive of people enjoying any other show in the franchise except *maybe* TOS) want to admit it on not, Trek has long had a problem with getting new fans and keeping them. They knew that going into ENT, which was why they did stunt casting of Scott Bakula and the hottest people than could find and also Dominic Keaton. Execution not withstanding, I honestly wouldn't be typing this right now if I didn't find the show to be more accessible than previous series and thinking back to my time on TBBS back in the day, most of the biggest fans were also as new to Trek as I was.

But even aside from that, shows take four years on average from pitch to pilot airing. I mean, it took two years for SNW to be announced and another two years to premiere and that one had a pretty logical thread to follow in dealing with the fallout of Pike's fate. Meanwhile I've heard about five different pitches for what Legacy is supposed to be with the only commonality between them being "Not connected to Discovery."

I assume it may eventually happen once Paramount's fate is sorted out but I'd at least give it to 2025 before assuming it's dead.

And how many people in Classic Trek got their start with writing/directing any of those shows? Hello, Terry Matalas?!?! Bryan Fuller??! Jonathan Frakes?!

From the interviews she's given, she was headhunted by Kurtzman himself after seeing her performance in the SNW crossover and asked her to submit her writing after seeing her comedic chops there. I doubt they just plucked her up for giggles and shits.

Terry Matalas worked on ENT and then was C0-show runner on the 12 Monkeys show and worked on Picard before becoming show runner for season 3. Fuller, I believe was one of the fans that submitted a script back in the day and the producers liked it. He wrote for DS9 and VOY before being tapped as show runner for DSC. Frakes directed First Contact, the most successful TNG movie, before directing DSC, Picard and SNW episodes.

These people have a proven track record. You don't make someone show runner who doesn't have a proven track record and only one writing credit. This sounds to me like more Kurtzman not taking Trek seriously and by doing so hes alienating the fan base.

Manny Coto's biggest credits were "Dr. Giggles" and "Starkid".

[Rick Berman has entered the chat]

At any rate, Tawny Newsome's not a show runner, she only turned in one script. My general point to WAB (who despite my disagreement, is coming in good faith unlike OTHER people) is that this franchise has opened doors to people with the right support. Without Matalas 's ENT script and Braga's guidance, he may have never made 12 Monkeys. Without the guidance Jonathan Frakes was given (and, it must be said, Gates McFadden was routinely refused despite coming with with more directing background than Berman himself), he wouldn't have gone into directing, nor would Robert McNeill or Roxanne Dawson

Let's be honest, nothing short of him dropping dead would be satisfying to you :spock:

Nah, I’d be happy with Kurtzman either leaving on his own or getting fired.
ETA: Michael Piller also contributed to bringing in good writers.

    TNG "The Loss".

The navigator ensign of the week looks like a miniature clone of Gwendoline Christie.

I think the lockdown got a lot of people to either revisit Trek or watch it for the first time and for some reason Voyager and Enterprise appeals to gen Z. I would say for Enterprise it’s the serialized nature of the series, but why does DS9 get so little love? As for TAS, that’s just for hardcore TOS fans. I still want P+ to release the data (no pun intended) for DSC, Picard and SNW.

TAS is like the comic shop upstairs from the sports bar that doesn't have a street visible sign.
It's like "oh yeah, I keep forgetting this is here. Now that I'm here, it's great...but I just keep forgetting".
