Sorry uncle cracker snowflake, but no you are not, and no trans people are imposing anything on you. However, if you feel the need to actually do something about it america has lovely hate crime laws and a place in their jails for you.

Oh yeah, uncle coward only whines on the internet because he knows he would look silly going to jail after having someone in a dress defend themselves by sticking a cute boot up his ass and slapping the stupid out of him.

I would love to actually protest this sort of thing, but going in the men's room is fucking convenient so I do it anyway. Normally you do not have to worry about a line, and if there is a line it goes quicker anyway. There normally are not people having a family reunion, or a book club discussion in there. There are normally not kids swinging from the rafters in the men's room. Most guy's understand it is time to shut the fuck up when going to the bathroom. You do not have to fight for sink space because most guys don't wash their hands anyway.

As for the people who are passing, what the fuck does this rule have to do with them? Especially those who are transitioning young today. You are not going to be able to tell a trans girl on hormones from a child from any other woman. As for a trans woman who does not pass, you do not want to start playing bathroom cop with them. Again, the reality is this bullshit is going to come down on ugly and manly cis women or girls who do not conform to gender stereotypes. You are going to have @Uncle Albert type men chasing ugly cis women into the ladies room playing bathroom cop.

I personally do not care anymore because the ladies room is a fucking zoo. Not to mention, in a skirt I do not even have to unzip to use a urinal, and the women's room does not have them. There is nothing like the look on the chinbeard's face when they are hot on you but you are peeing standing up. If I went in the ladies room I do not think I would know that gaping maw. But if you guys want to know a similar look it is the one tucker carlson has when someone else is talking, only with a little more surprise.

I have a suggestion: if you're a business who doesn't want to be drawn into playing bully-by-proxy for the state, print these signs on fragile and cheap paper, suitable for acts of civil disobedience, then let us do the rest.

AFAIK nothing in the bill specifies what the sign should be made of.

So if you were a business owner in TN, would you meekly comply with the sign requirement, or defy them? Since you are the sole arbiter and such...

Maybe you know offhand what this law actually says? Because I am a little confused by what it means. I cannot quite wrap my head around what the law actually does?

Does it actually criminalize going into the bathroom of the gender you identify with?

Let us say you don't put a sign up specifically saying trans people are allowed in the bathrooms. Unless there is a guard on the bathrooms there is no one going to stop you. Fopr the amount of trans traffic in the bathroom you would stop, is it worth even watching for?

What actually changes for the business that allows trans people in the bathroom? Why do you even need to change the sign when you could just not monitor whether or not trans people use the bathroom? This is why I do not understand what the law actually does. If I own a business and do not give a fuck if trans people use the bathroom that is not their gender then why do I even bother changing the sign? Does the business get fined if a trans person is caught using their bathroom if they do not put up a sign?

As always TN makes my fucking head hurt.

This bathroom law pisses me off (no pun intended) because I can't stand poorly written laws or rules. :brood: Anything that can be misinterpreted/reinterpreted will be misinterpreted/reinterpreted.
Then you get into the whole "spirit of the law versus letter of the law" game and everybody loses at some point. Sometime I think every law or rule should undergo this process before it gets finalized:

gather up a group of average and random people from all walks of life - every education level, every political leaning, every age category, every race, every income level, etc etc and read the law or rule. Get feedback and ideas from this group of people. If the majority of the people cannot figure out exactly what the law says, figure out what parts need clarification. Whether they like the law or not doesn't matter - can they understand what the law states? IMHO that should be an important and productive part of democracy. Just my 2 cents.

All that's true but here's why supporters of such laws won't be impressed

    1. the don't ACTUALLY give zero fucks about who's in the restrooms, they are pandering to bigotry.
    2. the law doesn't actually change anything, it's simply a message statement to trans people that they are second class citizens, and "decent" people are entitled to hate you - and to those people that the state endorses their view.
