Open season on kids with nontraditional names? Trust you to hyperfocus on that.

Be interesting to trace the origin of both weapons to the guy in your state selling 'em out of the back of his truck.

Where did I say anything about his name being any kind of excuse for the event? I'm just amazed at odd names, wonder why people would saddle kids with such names, and wonder how it's pronounced - "antic" or "antique".

    HYPERfocus? :wtf:

I'm betting it's pronounced like antique.

Your mere mention of non-traditional names while being white makes you suspect of thoughtcrime. Doubleplusungood. :nono:

    Pretty much.

Kid gets killed and the response is..."Dang! what kind of name is that?"

Well it means 'one who collects'.

And just so you know, the whole community is outraged by this. Rewards have been posted. Many community leaders have spoke up.

Gotta write this stuff down -
    1) Don't mention it if you don't know a supposedly famous person they're discussing.
    2) Don't react to oddball made-up names any more.

What else? Too many dog pictures? Enough with the yard deer?

One of your mistakes is that you assume the name is 'made-up'.

BTW, the items you listed are in the book "How to be cool, and not look like a jerk"

In this case, unfortunately a bullet. Wonder what the heck the father involved in to become the target of a drive-by.

True, because I've never heard it before, and in this case I guess I was wrong. Good to know - what language is it derived from?

Damned tragic and on so many levels. However should it turn out to be a hit gone wrong due to Daddy being up to no good I hope that he is agonized over this for the rest of his days. I hope they nail the perps to the wall for this. Yet Im also forced to wonder as to how long before Bloomberg and Kelly say that if only they had stop and frisk that this could have been avoided?

Not sure where it is from but its not 'made-up'. It has European roots. Possible its not a proper name.

The rise of Christianity also caused the rise of names from the Bible. Other Literature gave rise to many names also. America is full of Christian and Anglo names.

For me, a name like Hans or Stanley is some weird shit. So I can relate with you.....a little.

The story is that they were after the father. It was not random. there is much info and the perp should be caught soon.

Maybe made-up was the wrong way to put it. Just not a word I'd ever expected to hear used as a given name.

Anyhoo, sorry to cause the sidetracking of the horrible tragic story.

I know a Stanley! Nice guy, has a lot of adopted kids from other countries. One of them is a sweetie-pie Mongolian/Russian barely legal exotic babe who everyone wants to bone. :techman: Well except Stanley because that would be creepy. :calli:

Stanley Clarke? I think I remember teaching him the bass - one of my better pupils. I hope things are going well for him.
