You underestimate how bad Seattle is. Baltimore is the best team playing this weekend, but even at -10.5 New Orleans is probably the best bet to cover and is as big a lock to win as you'll ever get in the playoffs.
Well, looks like Seattle going to pull off the upset. And the Saints just gave the single worst effort at tackling I've ever seen on that Lynch touchdown run. That was just scarily bad.
Jets versus the Bears in the Super Bowl. That's my prediction. (Now I get to be either proven right or pleasantly surprised.)
If you're right that would be a pleasant surprise, but both teams are most likely losing next week. Chicago's one of the weaker teams to ever earn a bye. The difference between Chicago and whoever wins Philly/Green Bay is almost as big as the difference between the Jets and the Patriots. Basically Chicago is a 9-7 team that got lucky and Philly and Green Bay are 12-4 teams that caught a bad break, while the Jets and Patriots have records that match their quality pretty well. Of course upsets happen, and in the playoffs they're probably no longer a shot than 1 in 3 absent extreme suckitude by one team, and as we saw in game one today, even that longer shot can come though.
Gambling update! Didn't bet NO -10.5, which turned out to be the right move, obviously. But I DID take them at -.5 as part of a 3 team teaser. UGH. Bet the Jets +115 to win, as opposed to +2 to cover, and almost threw my shoe at the TV when it looked like they'd lose by 2. But thanks to Nick Folk, they won and I made a nice sum. Have the Ravens -3 and the Packers +120 today. Football!!
Seriously. 8 missed tackles. I don't think Marshawn Lynch had made 8 tacklers miss in his entire career before that.
Oh my...sports talk radio in Philadelphia on Monday will be magic! The worst fans in the league are going to whine and bitch as only they can after a loss like this.
[action=Nautica]reads all the unread posts in this thread from last week, and chuckle at all those predicting the Seahawks demise.[/action] Hell no, I didn't pick'em either. I just like laughing at all you other losers!
It would be pretty awesome if the Seahawks won, just so we could have a Superbowl winner with a losing record.
Can't happen. Even if Seattle knocks off the Bears (which isn't going to happen) and Green Bay beats Atlanta (could easily happen), GB would host the game by virtue of having a better record. My crystal ball tells me we'll be seeing a Chicago vs. Green Bay NFC title game.
How about football in 80+ degree weather outside in October? The snow's not so bad in mid-winter but summer half the year can be just as brutal.
Gambling time! LOVE the Bears -10 vs. Seattle. Like Pittsburgh -3 vs. Baltimore. Like NE -9 vs the Jets. Scared shitless of the Atlanta/GB game and probably not going to bet it.
Gotta admit it. Even as a diehard Falcon fan, I'm not going to talk much smack on this one. I think we'll win but it's gonna be a squeaker.
Steelers advance and Baltimore and fuckstick Ray Lewis get to run crying home to mama. All is right in the world this afternoon.
Ouch! No, wait. That wasn't an ouch. That was an ooouuuoccccchhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Man, was I wrong. Great game by the Packers. They played the game the Falcons have been known for all year and took it to another level.
