Cam Newton's looking good, but not really any better than in the past. Carolina's defense, on the other hand, is looking like it's taken a step up to elite.
49ers seem to be (sadly) rounding back into form. But yeah, the NFC East is weak and the NFC North is a shambles. I see the NFC wildcards coming out of the West and South, only, most likely. AFC seems stronger top to bottom.
I don't see that at all, Nautica. I think that right now the NFC is stronger at every slot, 1 through 16, except 5. Seattle is somewhat better than Denver; Carolina, San Francisco, and New Orleans stomp all over K.C., New England, and Cincinnati; Indy is better than whoever you slot at #5 in the NFC, but then the NFC dominates the rest of the way down. For goodness sake: the AFC has three teams bad enough to lose to Jacksonville!
SEAHAWKS, MOTHERFUCKERS! I've been waiting my whole life for a football team that doesn't suck ass. This is gonna be our time.
Did I hear correctly that the AFC has only five teams over .500? If true then I'd say they were the weaker conference.
NFC has five more in the wins column than the AFC. But the AFC has more teams with 8+ wins. When I look at the standings, I see a lot of mediocrity with a few standouts in the NFC, whereas the AFC is more composed of outliers, either well above or well bellow. 500.
Look at scoring differential, or at DVOA if that's your thing. Whether you look at it league-wide or on a team-by-team basis--comparing the top team in each conference, the second best in each, etc. down the line--the NFC crushes the AFC by either measure. The NFC is outscoring the AFC by more than a field goal per game--i.e. by more than home field advantage, and good enough for a team to be playoff caliber in either conference--over 54 interconference games so far. For all the talk about how bad the NFC East and how good the AFC West have been, the AFC South stands out as the worst division in football and the NFC West is far above the rest.
Considering the inherent lack of balance in NFL scheduling, I don't think we can really draw any strong conclusions. There are some good teams in each conference, a lot of mediocre teams, and some real shit teams. I think that's about the only objectively accurate statement we can make.
Apparently the Whiners couldn't let the Rams get away with worst fans ever, they decided to one up them with a PSA in prep for the Seahawks coming to town: Seriously W.T.F. You have to tell your fans to show up on time, wear their colors and WHEN TO FUCKING GET LOUD?!?!?! Fucking Christ.... I like Q13's (Seattle station) coverage:
It's hard to maintain fan quality when your defense spends half a decade not bothering to tackle anyone . . . just sayin' . . .
So... Wow. Yeah, it was just the Giants, but our secondary made Eli their bitch. And Dallas? With N.O. going down to the Rams, Seattle only needs to win one of their next two games (Arizona and St. Louis, both at home) to secure NFC West and Home Field Advantage all the way through.
The Rams are now 6-8, and have won 5 games by double-digits and lost 5 games by double-digits. Go figure!
To show how far the NFC West has come, Seattle won the division with a losing record just three years ago. Now it's the best division in the conference.
Although we did go on to beat the defending Superbowl champs (New Orleans) and then give the Bears a run for their money. That shut down all the talk of a 'Seahawks Rule' pretty quick.
Yes, but it's difficult to keep your composure when the "officials" are obviously being paid off by the opponents. Today the 12th man wasn't the crowd so much as the boys wearing black & white stripes!
Anybody else see this stupidity? http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-o...uld-support-expanding-playoffs-for-more-teams If Jones had his way, not only would it not be necessary to win your division to make the play-offs, you wouldn't even need a winning record. It's bad enough that an occasional 8-8 team squeaks in, this would pretty much guarantee it every year.
I'd wish that something would happen to him...medically...so he'd have to "retire" (or quit breathing), but I'm not sure that his sons would be any better at running the team. It's been clear for a very long time that he's just interested in making money, not winning championships.
The Colts-Chiefs game was great. Saints-Eagles was alright but I'm glad the Eagles lost cause I hate them.
