No, education went out the window quite some years ago. But I'm glad to see the Democrats backing a plan to open up the income gap by making sure that college students aren't burdened by the expense, so they can instead use their increased earning potential to hire minority high school graduates as personal servants or field laborers. Now we just need to find out how much of the $315 billion spent on higher education is going to come out of Obamacare.
Do the world a favor and hold your breath while you wait. BTW, no "HILLAREEEEEE!" squealing today? Waiting a judicious amount of time before you change your tune to "BERNEEEEEE!"? Numbskull.
The student loan burden is both a symptom and a cause of the higher education mess. The more money made available, the more universities raise their prices, building more and more multi-million dollar facilities and hiring more and more people to staff the bureaucracy. Since just about everyone goes to college, what they won't be paying in student loans under the "free" system will exactly equal the additional amount they have to pay in taxes to pay for that free education. The difference is that the students who opt not to go would also be getting billed to pay for the ones that do.
So, no more "HILLAREEEE!" and not quite ready for "BERNEEEEE!" Suggestion: Stick to talking about food and alcohol. On those topics, you actually make sense.
Oh, my. Turns out the "activists" who disrupted the Sanders rally in Seattle aren't members of Black Lives Matter at all, but "radical Christians" and Palin supporters...
Trump’s Lead Grows After Debate, Controversy Real estate magnate Donald Trump’s lead over the Republican field grew in the several days after his performance at the first GOP presidential debate, according to a new Morning Consult survey, even after he invited a new round of scorn from fellow candidates over impolitic comments about Fox News host Megyn Kelly. Trump leads the Republican field with 32 percent of the vote, up 7 percentage points over last week’s Morning Consult tracking poll. Trump’s nearest GOP rival, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, clocked in at 11 percent. No other Republican contender reaches double digits – retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson sits in third place at 9 percent, followed by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) at 6 percent. ----------------
Colleges stopped being about education decades ago garamet. Sure a studious committed person can in fact learn a great deal if they want to. But trust me when I say it will likely not be through the efforts of professors.
Well, my kids are about your age, and both got an excellent education at their respective schools. But I suspect with online learning my grandkids will have more options. What I find disturbing is the rationale that "I only went to college to get a job," which is where the "prestige" thing comes from, because the kinds of jobs they're looking for require an MBA from a "good" (read Ivy League) school, and most of them end up majoring in "Kegger!!!!!"
When I graduated from college, I did lots of research on how best to use your degree. In broad agreement was the idea that unless you get a job consistent with your degree within three years of graduation then your degree would probably not help you.
Was really trying to cut down on my use of this, but it's just so freakin' appropriate for so many of Sayton's posts --- Sorry.
Cruz is doing some serious butt kissing of Trump. He must be hoping for the Trump supporters' votes when The Donald flames out. A thousand people may be a pretty good turnout if it's in an isolated area.
Its not, the town has a population of about 117K, and up until the housing crash, the county its located in was one of the fastest growing in the country. Its also the geographic center of the state, and has a university located there. Said university, until the mid-90s had a plaque on campus honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest. Its the kind of place where Ted Cruz should do well, but doesn't appear to have.
As we know, the TightyRighties revile the "MSM" when it doesn't confirm their bias, but they haven't picked this up yet: I'm not on Twitter. Just reporting the buzz out there. I'm sure @T.R and @gturner will be along any minute now to tell me I'm wrong because "BERNEEEEEE!"
Patheos had to whitesplain her: Of course there is always something particularly depressing and disturbing about any African American clinging to Christianity, when Christianity was in fact the tool of the slavemaster, the religion that justified the enslavement and subjugation of African Americans, the religion that justified Jim Crow and segregation, the religion that continues to keep Americans of all color ignorant and uninformed, at once frightened and beseeching of a God that does not exist. So she can't be an authentic black because she believes in Jesus, and like all people of color, she's ignorant and uninformed. Go team!
Poor @gturner. HILLAREEEEEEE!!!11! isn't talking about the Ivies, just public colleges: http://www.newser.com/story/211117/clinton-grads-should-leave-public-colleges-free-of-debt.html Which, if he wasn't a mendacious SOB, he'd remember used to be tuition-free.
Things aren't looking good for Perry. Rick Perry stops paying all of his staff as fundraising dries up
Bill Clinton reportedly advised Trump to become more involved in Republican politics shortly before Trump announced he was running. http://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...b30bb8-3ae3-11e5-b3ac-8a79bc44e5e2_story.html
Gotta hand it to Bill Clinton, he is a political genius. Not saying this is what happened, but if he manipulated Trump in to running, that's some serious Machiavelli action.
Over 27,500 at Sanders rally in Los Angeles And the disruption in Seattle seems to have worked in his favor. Watch for Hillary to announce that she, too, has always been an advocate for civil rights...
