Y'know, you're onto something there. How about a roasted red pepper soup with a grilled Pepperjack cheese sammich?

I've only had it the one time, and it's many a year ago, now, but I do recall that it was just fantastic.

Yeah, I've tried that one, too. Tastes like a V8 that went bad. But the Modelo Especial version is fairly decent, particularly when it's frosty cold.

Chelada is Beer mixed with Clamato juice (Clam and Tomato juice). I reviewed it once, it was awful.

I don't think Modelo's uses Clamato in it. Just beer, lime, and salt.

@Madeliaette -- a chelada is a beer with typically lime and salt. But there are variations with other things in them, like beer and clamato (which is how the Budweiser one is done). IIRC, the beer/lime/salt is the Mexico City style, while beer/clamato is more like northern Mexico style or something.

It's really SO good. I can see doing the Modelo version during the summer when it's 110+ here. VERY refreshing. The Budweiser version is more of a "red beer", a.k.a. (mostly ineffective but very popular) hangover remedy.

As for dinner tonight, since I got paid twice today (once handsomely by the magazine I work for and once OBSCENELY well via book royalties) I'm having Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select on ice, and just ordered dinner of Lamb Souvlaki, Dolmades, seasoned rice, and Greek fries. Meanwhile, I'm vaping Hurricane Vapor's "Twilight Cavendish" which isn't even commercially available yet, but which is an AMAZING fusion of Cavendish-treated burley, honey, and French vanilla.

Although were polar opposites as far as political views go, you don't seem like such a bad guy. Sometimes I just think you like to argue, and so do I some times. It relives stress. Have another beer.. I got some Bitburger and Miller Lite.. :D

Interesting trick with flat beer -- at least it seems to work all right with American swill beer -- is to drop just a pinch of salt in. If you keep it to just a tiny pinch, you shouldn't taste the salt, but you do get "new bubbles" -- not for more than a minute, of course, but it'll be good for a long swill.
