A new forum.

We're gonna bring back a forum to help cut down on the new registrant approval time. I need Nick and O2C to work on the permission settings. I want a new registrant to be allowed to post in there, and there alone. I want an Admin to have to approve their release from "Pandora's Box."

Pretty catch name for that particular type of forum, no?

Makes the joining process public and allows existing members to weigh in on potential new members.

I find this good.

Can other people post in it, and if so, should we move all the ex-Embassy posts back? Especially the Wordforge Testament?

Also, which Category does this go in?

Somebody could rewrite that. It's a cool idea, but Volpone used about half the space to troll me. Uncool.

Anyway, good idea with the new forum. Make sure it's a soft entry into WF meaning that it's an no-flame zone. I think the welcome we give n00bs here has a lot to do with why we don't get any...

Yes, other members may post in it. As for the former posts and the testament, maybe.

Category... I still miss announcements and the FAQ being at the top of the list.

But, I guess we can put it "Help!" However, please move announcements to the top, FAQ to the second slot, Pandora's Box to the third slot, and The Help Desk to the fourth, and last, slot.

I'm back. I was going to do it but I had a really busy weekend. I had guests over who wouldn't leave.

Nick, fair enough. O2C, we missed out once again. I had a 14 hour day today and I'm looking at a 14 hour day tomorrow. I finally ended up leaving the station at about 2100 and I'm still up writing reports. Eighteen hours is enough work for one day. I'm going to bed.

Subject: New Registration Policy and Forum

Effective a few minutes after I post this announcement, a new forum "Pandora's Box" will be opening, new registrations will be directed to a usergroup whose members can only post there until administrative approval, and moderated registrstion will be disabled. The purpose of this forum is to enable getting rid of moderated registration, and as an "Embassy-lite"; all posters may post there. Standard moderation rules (not Red Room Rules) will be in effect.
