I mean it sounds like it's going according to the Republicans' plan. Much the same way they've spent generations neutering public education to the point we're now seeing mass teacher shortages, the Republican agenda has always been to eliminate as many public officials and tax-funded jobs as possible so their sponsors can step in and privatize everything (and in turn, get the tax money that would have otherwise gone to public entities). That they also get to discriminate is just a bonus.
I mean...if they stopped collecting that tax money, there would be one less expense your neighbors are forced to shoulder for you. Still the solution I favor.

A writer I respect wrote today about despair, and the tag line is "It won't always be this bad" and I'm inclined to agree. There's EVERY indication it's still on track to get much worse.
When courts run on a system where the idea of the law is not as important as the exact wording of the law this is what happens. Don't discriminate needs to have every group that must not be discriminated against listed under american law, and if that group is not listed then they do not count under an anti-discrimination law. So every time the right wing finds a new group to abuse they will have to go through all of this shit. Every time the right figures out some new way to screw over some group they already abuse then we will have to go through all this bullshit. Of course, now we see every time we get a right wing president in charge and they change the courts we will have to relitigate everything over again because this is what they do. What I am really pissed off about is the liars who pretend the US does not do these things because that seems to make all the people who are not effected by the abuses of the right at that moment overlook the victims because they think america is a magic place with freedoms and rights because no one is presently trying to abuse them too much. We are not in a world of primarily decent people. Most people would step over you if you were dying. They wouldn't call 911 if you were getting killed in front of them. They would actively rat you out if you tried to drink water from a puddle because you were dying of thirst on someone's property they did not even know. The abuse is the point. Please wake up and realize it is not a mistake there are loopholes, it is the fucking point to enable abuse.
