It is not the same logic. Guns are logically connected to shooting a person. Being gay is in no way logically connected to molesting a child.

Sane people don't care whether a child molester is gay, because molesting kids is always wrong. Sane people don't care whether a terrorist is a Muslim, because terrorism is always wrong. Sane people DO care whether a driver is drunk, because driving drunk is wrong whereas driving isn't.
But you can't molest a child of the same sex without being gay. And you can't be an Islamic terrorist without being a Muslim. And you can't be a drunk driver without drinking alcohol.
Gun ownership is an ideology. To insult gun owners is no different than insulting any other ideology, up to and including religion. It is bigotry against an ideology.

You might want to look up 'ideology'. Ideologies are always wrong, and it is perfectly alright to insult ideologies. Religions are not generally ideologies (though a small subset of religious beliefs are also ideological).

Believing that you have a right to own certain objects may be part of a larger ideology, but in and of itself is not an ideology. I believe I have a right to own shoes and socks, as well as many other objects of personal property, and together that constitutes one aspect of my ideology. There is a spectrum of ideologies among gun owners, just as there is a spectrum of ideologies among owners of shoes and socks.

I thought better of the quotes. Being straight or gay is a social identity, a public persona. Most child molestors would self-identify as straight.

And, even assuming arguendo it was an ideology, I encourage you to recognize that there is a difference between an ideology (one's chosen belief system, which can be fluid and changing throughout one's life ) and one's fundamental identity (gender, sexuality, etc. which are immutable characteristics). Again, I'm not saying one cannot be a bigot against gun owners, but there is a world of difference between bigotry against gun owners and bigotry against one's gender or sexuality.
No, it's not. Everything about that is wrong. Even the word 'attracted' has a different meaning when describing a child molester's relation to their victim, as opposed to a gay person's relation to a significant other. Those are in no way the same thing.
I can agree with that last sentence, but if gun ownership is a belief system, bigotry against it can be as hateful a thing as bigotry against, say, a religion.
