Went to the range yesterday and put a few hundred rounds through my G23 and G36. Did pretty good, actually. My marksmanship (after a long, lazy lull) is finally getting back to where it needs to be. When I bought the first Glock, I wanted a .40 and it is still my favorite gun and the one I'm most accurate with. Then, in my search for smaller carry pieces, I wound up with a Ruger SP101 (.357) and a Glock 36 (.45), both of which are great, although the Ruger is a bit small for my hands. Now I find myself sniffing around Sig's and HK's website, looking at more handguns, and googling up pictures of various 44 Magnums and thinking it would be funner than hell to pick up one of those and go make my hand sore (by a method other than spanking it, that is. ) So, am I slowly becoming addicted to handguns, or what? I wanted 1 originally, I'm now up to 3 and surfing for more...
As I said in my earlier thread on the subject, the .500 S&W Magnum was not at all unpleasant to shoot. I could've put a hundred rounds through it without discomfort. But that little bastard S&W 60 with full-house .357 Magnum loads was downright painful after a couple of cylinders. I don't find .44 Magnums unpleasant to shoot. The weight of the gun usually cancels out a lot of the recoil. Rapid double and triple taps with a Desert Eagle are pretty easy. I can rapid-fire my Taurus .44 Mag no sweat. 'Course, I've never fired that scandium/titanium model 329PD; I hear that thing is a hand-slapper with full-house .44 loads.
It's interesting shooting a Ruger Super Blackhawk at an indoor range. I let it rotate fully up on recoil to absorb the shock, rather than wrench my wrist trying to control it. It tends to smack into the target trolly wires. Embarassing.
