Just because you don't have what it takes to get in the military, don't think those "cannon fodder" who do are second rate intellects by any stretch. FYI all branches are different, but the Navy has some pretty damn smart people overall.
I had what it takes to be in the military and then some. While the navy may have smart people it does not appear that they are here.
Back before I had a kid, when I could hang out at bars, I was at my neighborhood sports bar one night. It was getting pretty late and some dude was making an ass of himself, got cut off, and eventually went into the 'not passed out, but swaying as he sat and stared down at the table' phase. Seth, the bar manager called a cab and said drunk dude and his buddy had to leave when it got there. The whole wait drunk dude's buddy was trying to play cool (he was also a bit drunk) and kept saying "Sorry about this, we're regulars, we're regulars, this never happens." After the 5th or 6th time, Seth looks over at me and says "You even seen them before?" "Nope. I'm pretty sure if you're a regular, you don't have to keep telling people you're a regular."
"I had what it takes to be in the military and then some." Sounds like a common Wordforge lament. But hey, the military loses out I guess. But to their credit they found a replacement (after an epic struggle no doubt) with a skill-set similar to that of Tererun and they accomplished their missions.
Yeah, but as a general principle, Canadia is cold. This argument has been quite hilarious and revealing.
Well one thing few could argue - it is beautiful! At least the parts I have been to anyway. Matter-of-fact when I drove down from Fairbanks Alaska to Phoenix Arizona (taking the ALCAN of course)I had great scenery the whole time. One weird thing was seeing a black bear cub hauling ass across the highway, then climbing a steep hill in the middle of the day in British Columbia.I found out from one the locals that they are doing some kind of road construction and using explosives to blast out rock and whatnot, and scaring critters. This was in the summer BTW. Not to sound like a broken record, but the coldest part of the trip was Utah. Seriously, step out of the truck in the wee hours and BAM! That cold mountain air hit you like a gut punch.
On a different note, my corned beef brisket is smelling pretty good. Tererun, maybe you ought to eat dinner and drink some water.
I never did understand what "brisket" is compared to any kind of meat. I know brisket means chest, but are there particular cuts or styles of beef that relate to "brisket?"
The Irish and British seem to have figured out how to take that tough cut of meat and turn it into tasty corned beef.
This makes sense then. A big no-no is shooting a deer facing you in the brisket with a bow. I guess that's interchangeable with "chest". If that is some tough meat, then it's dense and strong and hard to get an arrow through. This has been educational!
Just got back in the country this past weekend only to find out that Alberta imploded. The governing Progressive Conservative Party fucked things up royally in Alberta over the past decade. The NDP vote is merely a protest vote. It has nothing to do with the province leaning left or a new socialism, nor should the election of the NDP be interpreted as such. The Province of Ontario elected an NDP government in the early 1990s and it was a complete shit-show, so I expect Alberta to go even further down the tubes. Of course, I expect @14thDoctor hasn't stopped masturbating since the election results came in...
If Canadian history is any indication, the answer is likely yes. Pretty much every NDP government has always been followed by an ultra-conservative PC or Liberal government, mainly to clean up the damage wrought by the NDP during their 4-5 years in power.
