I don't get why they can still claim to be "The Religion of Peace" and actually keep a straight face,
Where was there anything about "religion of peace" at that link? Who is talking about that? They seemed to be talking about the long history of religious violence in India, during which Muslims have been the targets at least as often as they've been the perpetrators. Part of the reason this attack gets attention because the targets were frequented by rich white people. When Hindus kill a bunch of Muslims somewhere it barely makes our news. None of that "justifies" anything, just points out the hypocrisy that attends our reaction to the event. Not to mention the condescension involved in expecting somebody to denounce, on cue, some horrible action, lest you assume they support it 100%. If somebody talked to me like that I'd tell him to go shove it too.
It's a callback to Bush's 'religion of peace' comment just after 9/11. Are you playing dumb or do you really not remember that?
I think it did, but I won't swear to it. I remember watching the speech and involuntarily yelling 'WHAT THE FUCK?!' when he said it. I understand why he said it, but it didn't sit well with a lot of folks.
The religion of peace isn't something President Bush made up. Islamic leaders have claimed over and over how islam is the religion of peace and how islam means peace etc, Bush just repeated that stuff.
^Absolutely. That joke's nearly as old as dirt. Certainly it's as old as its' pedophile-rapist founder.
Meanwhile, countless Muslims and Muslim groups, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the presidents of Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Kashmiri American Council, the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, the government of Indonesia, and secret Muslim Barack Obama (just kidding!), have condemned the attack. But don't let that spoil your hate-filled circle jerk over some nut with a blog.
I think the point is that even if half, or 80% of Muslims condemned it (which would be remarkable data), numbering over a billion as they do, it's outrageous that hundreds of millions are reluctant to condemn it, while many are celebrating it. Including Americans. Glass-is-half-full is just peachy in some cases, but when murderous bastards are involved, it's disgusting to witness apologist portray us as the bad guy.
The Mumbai terrorists? The many, many Muslims who have spoken out against them? The Knights Templar? The Dark Lords of the Sith? The Westchester Ladies' Tea Society?
What -- everybody who hasn't issued a public statement condemning it must support it? How about if you take your twisted pretzel logic someplace else. Like a third-grade playground ... maybe there you can find someone who thinks it makes sense.
