Yes, a spot IN, not on my LCD. I know it's inside it, because when I move my head, it moves relative to (say) text on the screen (ie, there is parallax). Can't figure out what it is. Tapping at the spot doesn't do anything, and it's not moving, so it's neither a dead bug nor a live bug. Anyone ever seen anything like this before?
[Techman]FYI, liquid crystals work much like holding your hand up and turning it 90 degrees and then back...except that the tiny pixels are too small to see when sideways, so you get the visual effect of them appearing and disappearing, making the display animated when used.[/Techman] Sounds like some of them might be lazy.
Dead pixel maybe? Happens all the time with LCDs. In fact, most warranties will only replace them if there are eight of them or more.
Dan: Yeah, I'd say maybe 2-4mm. Kyle: not a dead pixel. If you've got a dead pixel, when the cursor is over it, the dead pixel still appears within the cursor, no matter what angle you look at it from. That's not the case here. I think it might be a double reflection of something, or behind a lens of some kind (though I don't think there's any in an LCD), because I just realized the parallax is the wrong way; it's as if the spot was several mm in front of the display (that is, when I move my head left, the spot moves left relative to any given reference point on the display.
In my experience, this is probably a tiny portal to the spirit world. The soul will go through this in the event of your untimely demise in front of the computer.
Maybe it's a tumour. Or more likely, it is a bug or something that managed to crawl in and get between the screen and backlight.
