Who said anything about race? Are you calling me a lefty? I suggest you go and look at the political compass thread mate.
We have a lot of people shacking up rather than getting married. I've noticed that in Dallas as well. Meth addicts who become pastors not seeing a problem with at least they can say been there done that let me help you do the same. Hypocrisy is definitely rampant. However, Tulsa is a different area for sure. Western Oklahoma, ie OKC West is about the same overall and pretty "normal'. SE OK is known to be really redneck/trash and when you get down around the Texarcana area, that's little Dixie. I have no words for that area.
Speaking of Tulsa, our Favorite Faux Christian missed his usual Friday night check-in. In fact, he hasn't been online since this guy was busted. Just sayin'.
Yahoo reported that it was an argument about supposed racism and not religion which set off the work place knfe atttack. http://news.yahoo.com/oklahoma-beheading--terrorism-or-workplace-violence-184638839.html
There was recently a woman beheaded by a Muslim. Those are facts, and the only relevant details I was commenting on. If one "Christian" murdering someone in the Bible Belt is indicative of all Christians in the area, (which is what Dinner was hinting at, post #23) then one "Muslim" doing the same is just as demonstrative.
Yahoo was saying the guy was black and supposedly said he said he hated white people so, if that was true, it wouldn't seem to be a dispute involving religion.
In the case where the Christian killed someone the attacker specifically said religion was his motivating factor. That was not true in the case where the Muslim was the attacker and instead he declared racial hatred of white people to be his motivating factor. Yes, this sort of stuff is important in determining intent.
[quote="evenflow, post: 2661456, memevenflow, I never said nor even implied that this attack is indicative of all Christians or even just Christians in that area. What I did say, repeatedly, is that I was not surprised to hear about violent religious extremists being found in the bible belt. I.E. a region know for very hard line and wide spread religiosity.
I don't think that means what you think it means, for the heartland. They are religious but very very few are preaching to everybody or trying to convert them. I've only come across that behavior from people going door to door across the nation. They will let you know they love the lord, but nothing else. I'm not sure how you equate that with violence?
What did that say? Also you do realize he was calling Dinner out on his broad stroke of heartland christians...right?
I suppose it would be pointless to point out to Garamet that there have been no less than THREE major incarnations of the Ku Klux Klan that had little to do with each other aside from the name. Hell, the second incarnation of the Klan was inspired by a MOVIE (Birth of A Nation)
I suppose it would be pointless to ask Dayton to try to dissociate any of these New & Improved versions of the Klan from the underlying philosophy of the original. To the Chicken Coop - allons y!
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/12/12/hindus-seek-ok-capitol-monument/ Speaking of OK, it seems Hindus now also want to put a statue up in the state legislature. I'm sure that the Christian zealots who demanded a Christian statue but who then tried to prevent any other religion putting up rigious displays are no doubt unhappy. If they were even remotely honest then they'd admit they were trying to break down the seporation of church and state while giving their religion the trappings of the official state religion. That is why they wanted their religionous symbols in the state house but tried to block any other religion from doing the same. Now they're going to get dozens of religious displays and probably endless lawsuits with each claiming the spot they get for their statue isn't as prestigious or that one of the other groups got a more visable position. Gee, it is almost like the athiests were right and religious displays should have just been kept out of the halls of government.
