Why does anyone have to decide which side they're on in a conflict that was OVER AND DONE WITH 142 FUCKING YEARS AGO?!??!?! Shall we all decide which side we're on at Culloden too? Hastings? The Teutoburg Forest? Thermopylae?
Sounds like all of Forbin's neighbors have their lawn mowers, leaf blowers and drills turned on tonight
We live in a world where most people choose sides in an imagined conflict thousands of years old among fictional megalomaniacal deities; what's a 142 year out of date reality based conflict in comparison?
Culloden- Marso is with the Scots! :bigstall: Hastings- Hard call. I'll go with the Saxons, though, since it was their country before the Normans came. (Of course, it was the Britons' until the Saxons stole it, and before that it was the anceitnt Celts...) Teutoborg Forest: Germanic Barbarians. OOOOOOODIN! Plus I'm reading the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire right now, and those Romans were fucked up! Thermopylae: Why the Spartans, of course!!
Reenactments are good public education and entertainment venues, and great tourist attractions for communities. And I like fighting on the right side.
As opposed to getting bent out of shape about a neighbor's nail gun or the morning commute? I'm still steamed about the Battle of Avaricum, myself.
Don't give me too much credit. If I were a better person, I might give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're not the smug, abrasive fucking shrew I perceive you to be here. If I were a better person.
The Bonnie Prince. Duke William. Roma. The Greeks. Yes, I thought about it long before you asked the question.
In regards to this thread... I'm shocked, absolutely shocked that two indignant, self-important people could spent a whole afternoon circling around each other making little petty snipes about the other's character and temperament. Go outside you two, it's a nice day out.
