I know they don't contradict each other, that's the point. Normally you're all full commie mode, now all of the sudden you're concerned about Russia's history.
Sorry, but regardless of if one is pro-communist or not (I'm not, simply because I think that ideas such as "Communism" or "Capitalism" or whatever, are more dogma than a viable means of ensuring the long-term survival of civilization and humanity. I think that aspects of various systems are important and valuable for our survival, but I don't believe that anything we've come up with is the "right" system.), one can still look at the history of a country like Russia and recognize that it has some ugly points in it's history. You know, like how we're supposed to recognize that while there are some very nice things about the United States, we've had some ugly points in our history. Nowhere in my posting history across the internet, will you find me stumping enthusiastically for communism. Just google my username to find out.
Tell me, do you 100% agree with every meme you post? Or do you post ones that you find amusing or entertaining? Oh, and have you ever posted a meme simply because you thought it would get a rise out of certain people?
Um, You realize ALL of those countries were conquered under the Russian Empire and not the Soviet Union right? I mean you are a historian so of course you do. So why you gonna conflate distaste with Russian Imperialism with communism? I was actually listening to a podcast the other day or week or month about how the US/West got it wrong. It wasn’t communism that made the SU ‘expansionist’ (in our eyes) but that in fact communism CONSTRAINED the innately expansionist nature of historical Russian civil political philosophy and that in fact in terms of actually trying to conquer and absorb territory the Soviet Union period was the LEAST expansionist in their history going back to the Kievan Rus. Putin is not an anomaly but a reversion towards the mean for Russian rulers. Not sure I agree but an interesting perspective I hadn’t considered.
The Behind the Bastards episodes on Czar Nicolas II touches on pre-Soviet Russian expansionism. I don't remember if they mention how Czarist Russia compares with Communist Russia but they do recount a lot of Russian expansionism that occurred after the Romanov's came to the throne in like the 1600s.
If Tuckerfan is communist because he posts left leaning memes what what would you say is the correct descriptor for someone who posts lying race baiting Trumpist memes?
I assume you're talking about COVID shutdowns. Are you going to continue refusing to answer the question of what you think would have happened if leaders hadn't taken those measures?
with your electoral process, sort of, yeah... see, I can vote for a third party here knowing there's little chance of them winning the Prime Minister's Office, but that the individual representatives will still be relevant. you guys get to choose your dictator every 4 years, and that's about it.
What I'm basically seeing is in 16' I was a Trump supporter and gave my vote to Trump because I voted for Gary Johnson. In 20' it's I'm a Trump supporter because I didn't vote for Biden even though I voted for Jo Jorgensen. Now I'm a Trump supporter even though I don't plan on voting for him in 24', but I'm not voting for Biden. So unless I vote for Biden, I'm bad in leftforge's eyes. They don't come out and say it, but I see it in their responses. In other words, I can't win.
No, we think you're bad because you voted for someone who'd have been even more damaging than Trump... if they'd ever had a shot. You guys don't vote for something so much as against it.
So you're just going to continue ignoring the question in favor of posting something even more moronic?
You mean if businesses weren't shut down and people didn't lose their jobs? I guess that's what would have happened, people wouldn't have lost their jobs or their businesses.
Touché But I have to think the Liberlas have someone better to put up than Freeland. She’s a disaster
No, not nothing, but Sweden didn’t do a lockdown and faired fairly well during the pandemic. It should have been handled better by both Trump and Biden.
Sweden had more than twice the death rate of neighboring Norway, and the highest death rate in its entire region. That includes both countries with lower population densities (Norway, Finland) and higher (Denmark). I'll remind you that hospitals were overflowing, morgues were stacking bodies in refrigerator trucks, and rich people were trying to hoard ventilators ... with aggressive measures to stop the spread. Do you truly believe that if we had just gone "la-di-dah, everything's fine, no need for anybody to change their routine," the results would have been better?
