I'd be more interested in seeing the sales figures. Lots of people like to talk smack about Wallyworld, but still line up on Black Friday to trample employees in order to get to the "bargains." I doubt, however, that all the problems with Papa John's and Applebee's can be traced back to the comments made by their CEO's. I'm sure that lots of CEO's feel the same way, but they're smart enough to keep their mouth shut, because they know that mucking about in such things can be bad for business. If Schnatter and Terkel are so dumb as to mouth off on issues in an unpopular manner, you can bet that they're making fucked up business decisions as well.

A friend of mine once gave some sage advice, "Never piss off your server until after you've gotten your food." You think employees who're getting dicked over are going to be all that careful preparing food for the customers? You think that they're going to have a hard time giving the customers free food when the customers complain? They're certainly not going to care too much about how the food is prepared (What's the worse that could happen? They get fired and have to take another shitty, low-paying job?), and they're not going to care about what it does to the bottom line if they refund customer's money. Its the only way they can stab back at management, so they'll take it.
