I am. I make lists for every conceivable thing both important and trivial. From places I want to visit during my lifetime, to my platform if I was elected president or governor, to "Tractors I Would Like To Own" to my science fiction hopes and dreams. My favorite NCIS episodes. My favorite moments from television and film. The funniest moments I've seen onscreen. My favorite comic strip jokes. Right now, I just completed a list from MASH. "The Episodes Where They Ate Well". Next, I think I'll be working on the "Rifleman" series. A complete listing of Lucas McCains confirmed kills over the five seasons. Anyone else do this?
I've been working on one titled "why I think Dayton3 is a sociopath"... Trying to decide whether it should be alphabetical, chronological, or somehow scaled by severity.
What... why... but... why... WTF??? Why would anyone make a list "where they ate well" for a TV show?
You definitely have Asperger Syndrome my friend. You may find the works of Temple Grandin and John Elder Robison very illuminating and helpful.
I would be interested to read that. Why? Sounds like proper OCD to me. Have you seen a doctor about this?
And I thought my compulsion to create accurate modern rock playlists by year was bad. (A sonic time machine I've created!)
I need to get more organized, and am making progress but I'm not quite to this level yet. I don't see anything wrong with writing things down. When hunting season kicks off in September I'm starting a complete log-book with maps, number of deer seen, weather info, wind direction, food source information (when these sources ripen for example) etc. etc. You have to "pattern" then before they pattern you. I've already started drawing custom maps with notes indicating approach routes into my blind, vegetation/food info, bedding areas, etc.
No, he has his wife for that. You may have seen her pic in ed629's thread. He will never run out of hugs.
I've got a couple lists in OneNote that I keep going. Shopping List (self explanatory) Movies (movies I want to see) Games (board games I want to check out) STB Posts (I've been asked to the join the staff of a local industry blog, as such I am required to put out two posts a month; ideas that I get) Lessons Learned (one of the deliverables for my contract includes putting out a lessons learned when it comes to the trainings on the software with employers).
Actually, I misspoke earlier. I do keep a list, but it's a practical one: The only list I keep is a model kit/accessory wish list that I print out and take to model shows to use in the vendor section. I started it several years ago after relying on memory to buy things...only to come home and find out I already had the kit/accessory/reference in the stash. It's not an age thing as much as it is a volume thing. My unbuilt kit stash is nowhere near the size of Forbin's, but it is...considerable. My wife keeps a wine list on her iPhone. Two lists, actually. One for wines she tries in restaurants and likes, the other for wines she tries that she doesn't like. That way, when she's at the grocery or liquor store, she can find what she's looking for.
I keep lists when they have practical value, so I don't forget important things. Most people do. Your list of lists, however, sounds like you have a real problem with compulsive behavior. So far, it appears that the list of people who can respond affirmatively to the question in the thread title is so short that no one needs to write it down to remember it, but I will do so anyway, just for you: "Who on Wordforge is a compulsive list-maker?" 1) Dayton 2) No one else. Even BearTM doesn't appear to be on the list...
^^ That's ListKEEPER - now i know what that handle meant. Bear obviously has a room full of filing cabinets where he store's Dayton's list output. I can spent a bit too much time RANKING (favorite 80's songs, favorite Star Trek episodes, etc) - which is to say ANY time is probably too much. but nothing like the OP....that concept leavesme a little speechles. I'm almost inclined to think that it's not true - just some wild ass concept tossed out for a troll.
I make a lot of lists, but they are . For example, I have a list of vintage watch parts I need to complete repairs on old pocket watches. These lists are normally manifested as "Google Alerts." I tend to not keep incriminating lists like you do.
