Bit of a shame liked Stargate.
Always watched it on Saturday morning as i'm munching away at my breakfast.

One of the things I liked about SG-1 was that it was on Earth. Though fictional, it was easier to relate with things that existed in real life. Cheyenne Mountain, the U.S. Air Force, military uniforms, Earth buildings filled with Earth decor...

Atlantis was almost too sci-fi like. Shuttlecra... errr, jumpers, uniforms that might as well have been Starfleet, totally alien technology (even Dell laptops were replaced with Trekish "pads"), and bad guys who almost had as much makeup on as Tammy Faye Baker.

It's the nuances that really make a show. The above makes Atlantis just so much more forgettable.

As cheesy as it's been, I actually like SG:A.

I'm not surprised at all. I was expecting it.

The episodes I've seen from this season have been horrible. Every week I think we may get a single descent episode and it's always shit. I'm usually playing my gutiar and half watching Atlantis by the second act.

Atlantis never really grabbed me at all. The whole space vampires thing was goofy even compared to the Goa'uld. If they hadn't cast McKay (a last minute decision, btw), the show would have been a waste of time from the beginning.

Not that this was unexpected, but I'm still disappointed. BSG doesn't return until next year, so where can I expect to get my sci-fi fix. :weep:

Wow, Universe is basically Voyager... ruh oh....

Personally, I enjoyed the personalities on Atlantis and thought they had some good, tight stories. I especially liked their take on the military aspects - they had some excellent ship to ship combat sequences.

However, I tend to think the movie won't be nearly as successful as the SG-1 movie, as there is less of a core audience (even though the last three seasons of SG1 was far worse than any of the seasons of Atlantis IMO).

Looking forward to the rest of the season. I'll miss Shepherd and Mckay!

Another series in a spaceship. This time it is a derelict craft on an unknown mission with unwitting Stargate type passengers. Oh and time travel is involved.

Not a bad premise at all and Destiny traveling an unalterable, unknown route provides a built in excuse to go anywhere at anytime with or without any reason whatsoever.

It could work if done right.

Well, I was getting sick to death of the Wraith and the goddamn-fucking-enough-already Replicators.

I did like the characters, though.

From what i have read, it might be the ship that seeds Galaxy's with Stargate's.

Even Buck Rogers did an episode where he had to defeat a space vampire.

Never watched a single episode of this show. In fact, I've never seen a single episode of the first Stargate.

Oh, there's plenty of good in 10 years of SG-1.

You're not doing yourself any favors.

The first 8 years of SG-1 was a really cool, fun show. It got a little slow on 7 and 8, but those first 6 years was really great.

It went Trek on us, but we still got 6 really, really good years for the show. Worth going back and watching it.

I like SGA even though the storylines are weak. McKay and Shepherd offset all the weaknesses. But this is no surprise to me.

SG: Universe seems a bit lame.

I was so ready to say "Good riddance!" And then they did probably their best episode ever last night. Wow.

Sadly the Stargate franchise has thrown away all its originality over the years and turned into another Trek clone.

I thought that's what it always kind of was. In fact, it seems like many of the episodes were almost out and out remakes of Star Trek episodes. That said, I still like what I have seen of the show (about the first one and a half seasons).

That was somewhat deliberate, as many earlier SG-1 eps were "homages" to various Trek shows and concepts.

That's cool. I actually thought that what I've seen of SG-1 kind of captured the original Star Trek in a way that no other show has.

Stargate needs some bsg and voyager writers :) B&B will do well on unverse.

Keep B&B out of it - they're the ones who did VOYAGER. Great concept Very poor after that.
