Baba in Media Central

When I glanced at MC just now, 4 of the top ten threads were the same Baba bullshit spam. Oh, here's a link to a Robert Beltran interview. Wait, here's a picture, no words mind you, of some random chick. And Oooo! Now we have a scintillating discussion about whether or not catsuits in star trek are a bad idea!

Okay, I know spam in the RR is fine, but for fuck's sake this is Media Central, can we warn him and delete these stupid clutter threads already? Thanks.

Baba is one of the most consistent posters in that forum. If you remove him from it, you might as well closw it down!

I think that "house" thread is spam, just cause I hate that show.

Those threads are getting replies and discussion, when he is spamming threads that no-one is responding to, then some of them will be closed/merged (this has happened in the past)

All his most recent threads are getting discussion though, if Baba having that many active threads in Media Central bothers you then maybe you should consider posting more threads yourself?

A great thing about rep comments is that they don't bump threads.

I'm telling you, Baba makes that forum.

Repping outside the Red Room gets the mods all jittery. They like to accuse people of rep waring and then start making threats to warn people.

Generally we are very forgiving it about it. In fact for the first time I can remember in a long while a member was warned a couple of days ago only after multiple friendly pm'd warnings, and it being very clear what he is doing.

The safest way to neg outside Red/Gray is to make sure you make a comment with it.

Ex:

Zombie disagrees! This post is pointless without any comment from you.

Zombie disagrees! No, I don't think catsuits made the show.

Using it to disagree is what it's for...just nailing him because he's Baba isn't enough and if you are warring with him in Red/Gray make damn sure anything you neg outside is really disagreement.

That requires far too much effort if you are just trying to unload 30 negs on a guy.

I've tried a couple of times to get someone to do something about Baba. People are constantly complaining about no new posters, but if I was to come here and see that bullshit spam with a couple of people dancing around him and drooling, I'd go somewhere else.

I've suggested that his thread-creation privleges be revoked, people in the red in general not being able to create threads, creation of a Play Pin forum for noobs and Baba so they can only post there (like TK) and compressing all his garbage on the days he posts into a single thread at the end of the day.

No dice.

I see someone saying they have merged his threads before, but I'm not buying that. I don't remember that ever happening not once.

For the love of God, just don't post in his threads to bump them.

Borgs used to merge his threads. He called them "Baba box sets."

I'm not trying to do anything. If you all pay attention which is hard for you mods to do at times you'd notice I was responding to Wayne Jarvis why rep is useless in this context.

Besides no one believes any of you that if someone put comments on all thirty reps that you wouldn't act. Especially if a person went into past posts on a continuous basis.

It's time for Baba to be terminated or be exposed cause he certainly has the protection of the staff and it's fucking annoying.

He is not a dual, if he is, he has a consistant proxy for years. He also has his real name right out there if you ever got an IM from him. He would rival Enterpriser for the ability to stick to character...even in Chat which is an entirely different atmosphere and often high-speed which makes for sticking in a character difficult for quicker witted people than Baba.

I sure as hell ain't protecting him. But starting annoying threads isn't an offense. No one is forcing anyone to click on his threads. You don't want to see 'em, man up and use ignore...you don't need a nanny to do what you damn well can accomplish on your own.

I just wanna see the uproar that would ensue when Baba was banned.

As well as who, exactly, that would be protesting.

He's annoying and the act is old by now. But he isn't really spamming... he really posts too little for that to be true. So let him be, put him on ignore or something

It wouldn't be spamming if it were just posts in preexisting threads. He consistently posts new spam threads.
