Im in car seat hell :ua: there are so many, and I have no f'ing idea where to start. I'm almost in tears trying to figure this out. I really could care less what it looks like, just want a awesome safety system that I can get into a flipping convertible :ua: without me losing my mind and trying to swallow a bullet :ua: there is several air cushion designs, five point harness, etc...and I don't know which is neccasry versus luxury.... Kiddo is 20 lbs, but he is so flipping tall, he has to get out of his infant carrier as it is no longer safe. :ua: help.

Sorry, but it's been so many years since I've used one I'm thinking baby-seat technology has advanced to the point where I couldn't be of much help.

Don't get anything with less than the 5 point harness.

The one we finally decided on, we will be getting rid of this month - our baby will be turning 8. We brought him home in that same car seat. He weighed less than 5 pounds.

Get one that will grow with him - or her.

No. I take that back. We brought him home in the one that also came with the stroller.

He was about 20 pounds when we moved him up to this car seat.

Fill trunk with playpen balls like you see at Chucky Cheese.

Gently, but snugly, place baby in trunk.

    Try to avoid traffic violations.

Relax. Anything sold today meets the standards. My policy was not to buy the cheapest, but the ones a little more. You can go into a store and they will help you. In most places you can go to the fire station and they will help you with what to buy.

I think Im gonna look for one in Altanta. Fun Fact: Babies r Us online has over 300 diffrent car seats, but only like 10 brands on them  Seems a little odd that they would make a average of 30 seats and have rate them against each other :bailey: One is enough I say

You live near Atlanta? I should visit you - I might be dropping off/picking up my son at the airport when he visits Los Angeles in a month or so.

If I can convice you or your significant other to successfully join the Army I can collect a hefty bounty. Just putting that out there.....

I'm going to be shopping for these this weekend since we are expecting our son in about a month. I'm sure google can answer this but are there any that last from infant all the way until they won't need it? Maybe with some kind of conversion kit or something?

Not that I found. The first infant carrier usualy last up to 30 in. . Which normally mean you can keep them in there for a over a year....However lil dude is in the 95 percentile in height for the 9 mth age (32 inches now) so mine didnt last that long :scorp: Gonna shop agian today. Oh, and a word of advice go for one that is light. I went for a jogging stroller/ car seat combo and the whole set up it heavy :scorp: If I could do it all again, Id go with a kolcraft. it has a optional bassinet, car seat, and stroller attachment. Light weight, and I think it folds similar to the Oragami strollers

See, if it were me, I'd go for the heaviest one I could find. Never know when you might have to bludgeon someone with it.

Tex, babies start too small (for just one seat to work) and need to be in a seat up until they're fifty or sixty pounds. You'll go through at least two seats over the next 4-5 years plus probably a 'booster' at the end stage that just sits 'em up a little higher so the seatbelt crosses lower.

My son is 8 months old and 21lbs. He's outgrown his infant carrier and now we only use it when the grandparent's need to take him somewhere. Unfortunately, my wife is out tonight in our SUV, so I won't be able to get you the specs on ours until she gets home. But, it'll probably be tomorrow before I walk out there.

No. There is however a little pillow that goes in the smallest car seat that wraps around the baby's head to keep it from moving. I had to go get one the day Littleflow One was born. Aside from that you're on the seemingly never ending train of getting a new seat as the kid grows out of the last one, up until the booster seat used to fill out a full grown seat belt.

You're cheap now, but once that kid is born you'll gladly shell out whatever is needed to keep that kid in the latest security placebo. :bailey:

I've gone through three for one kid and am on number three for the second kid.

Thankfully I can just pass them down.

Just get used to spending money on the kid.

A bit of advice to the both of you...thrift and baby stuff consignment stores are your friend, except when it comes to car seats. Other than that, buy from those places and you will save a butt ton of money on clothes, strollers, etc..

Get the one with the concealed carry holster. :mm:

It's been awhile since I've had to deal with car seats and they've changed a bit. My youngest is a teen now. My grandson's car seat blew my mind.
